My 15 month old son is constipated. We gave him an oral laxative, still he is not passing stools. It has been the case since a month. Please advise.

Stop bottle feed and give him high fibre food. To treat constipation laxatives have to be given for at least three months with changes in diet. Most of the time such babies have pain while passing stools. They may be having fissure in ano that is wound at the anus, local anesthetic agent may be added and luke warm water wash of the anal region may be done to relieve of pain.
