I am 64 year old veterinary graduate. I am suffering from allergic dermatitis since last 6 years. I have contacted more than 25 dermatologist. But I found for this only the solution--Dexamethasone tablets. I want to continue dexamethasone 0.5 mg. Every day till death. How much it will be harmful? By Dexamethasone I remain fully fresh throughout the day. Your kind opinion is requested. Following medicines are continued by me life long. 1.Telmiride--AM--before going to sleep.------for B.P_. 2. Loretam--every morning.---For allergy 3.Cyprine--every morning.---For allergy.

Dexamethasone is a steroid. It should not be continued for a long time. Please do Serum Cortisol levels which will give an indication of how much steroid has been absorbed in the body, Based on the levels the next line of treatment can be given. Please donot take oral steroid for a long period as it will decrease your immunity and you will be prone to infections.
