By simply saying a Transphincteric Fistula; one can not say it a simple of complex. Generally Transphincteric Fistula is not a complex fistula. There is about 20% recurrence rate of fistula after any type of surgery. That means on an average 1 in 5 patients undergoing surgery suffer from recurrence of Fistula. So any type of surgery including Fistulotomy and VAAFT; is not a good choice or Anal Fistula treatment. However Ksharsutra treatment recommended by Ayurveda is a complete solution for Anal fistula. Recurrence rate of Fistula after Ksharsutra Treatment is ZERO. Clinical trials conducted by ICMR (Indian Council of Medical Research) at AIIMS New Delhi and PGI Chandigarh has confirmed that Ksharsutra treatment is more convenient and successful than surgery in patients suffering from Anal Fistula. In this treatment; Ksharsutra - a medicated thread is placed in Fistula tract. Since already existing Fistula tract is followed so there is cutting of fresh tissue and very minimal bleeding is there. Medicine released from Ksharsutra thread debrides the fistula tract and induces healing. This medicine works for one week so Ksharsutra thread needs to be changed after week or 10 days interval. No. Of Ksharsutra changes required for complete healing of fistula depends on length, depth and branching pattern of fistula. For that clinical check up of your problem is necessary.
