Follow the instructions given by oral surgeon. He/ she must have evaluated your problem thoroughly before prescribing exercise and medicines. TMJ related problem is not easy to handle and multiple diagnosis or prescription may result in failure to achieve the best. You can take prescribed painkillers/ corticosteriods and muscle relaxants based on symptoms which your dentist know best.
