Hello sir/mam, I am 7 week pregnant my tsh level is very high 18. I have history of thyroid and high bp. I am take thyrox37. 5.I am very depress with my thyroid report kindly advise me such high thyroid can effect the baby in 7 week .i am 31 year old and its my first pregnancy. What to do to control thyroid.

lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. During pregnancy TSH level should be as follows: 1) First trimester - 0.1 to 2.5 mU/L, 2) Second Trimester: 0.2 to 3.0 mUz/L, 3) Third Trimester' 0.3 to 3.0 mU/L. Therefore present level has to be reduced <2.0 mU/L. Otherwise it will affect brain development of the fetus So please increase Thyroxine dosage by 50 mcg, per day to 87.5 mcg then check TSH after 4 weeks. If the desired level is achieved, then continue the same. If you have any doubts please come back preferably in a private conversation. Thanks.
