Hello Doctor, I am a undergraduate student, My age is 21, When ever I have final exams / Semester exams, I tend to have excessive mood swings, anxiety, fear right from the notification release, as a result I was unable to focus / concentrate absolutely, My mind is not willing to touch the books during exams, Even for some exams I gave empty answer script, Despite of knowing the answers, I tired meditation, Deep breathing, yoga,Tried positive self talk During those days, But there is no change in my mind state (practically didn't worked), This happens only during exams, I read and heard some where that using stimulants occasionally during hectic events is not much harmful, when the symptoms are not tolerable, Now I am planning to use stimulants such as ritalin by consulting the Doctor (psychiatrist) only for around 7-10 days during exams, Is it safe to stimulants like Ritalin occasionally? I will be very careful& limited in using them, Please provide your opinion, THanking you.

Use any medication Only under a Psychiatrist's prescription as you may be requiring other medication than Ritalin. Kindly do not take any medication without prescription. Also understand that you have performance anxiety and it will come up when you are working somewhere later in life. So you need a guided way to relax along with alleviation of root cause of your performance anxiety. You tried many things but they were stand alone probably - a holistic approach is required. You can consult me privately to go to the root cause of your performance anxiety and take medication strictly under doctor's guidance.
