I am going through laser hair reduction on my chest and arms and it hurts a lot because I have much denser and thicker hair. So, is applying a numbing cream prior to laser hair reduction is a good idea or not, please comment. My dermatologist is not agree for a numbing cream, the machine is lightsheer duet. Thanks.

Hi lybrate-user, I will advise you to discuss with your dermatologist if you can use EMLA cream. This cream�is a local skin anesthetic that is applied 1 hour prior to Laser Hair Removal Treatment but don't apply it before 1 3/4 hr. So discuss with your dermatologist because he better knows your skin sensitivity. If you can avoid numbing cream that would be much better because that way youf treatment would be much effective. There are some contraindications for using EMLA Cream if: You are allergic to any ingredient in EMLA Cream or to other similar medicines or If you have the blood disorder Methemoglobinemia Thanks.
