Hi Zosert 50 mg contains Sertraline 50 mg. Its major mode of action is inhibition of serotonin reuptake by the pre synaptic nerve endings. To make it simple, it just makes more serotonin available at nerve terminas which then acts to elevate your mood. Serotonin is a neurotransmitter which makes you feel good. So, if you are depressive or suffering from anxiety, obsession compulsion disorder, your doctor may prescribe this to you so that level of serotonin may increase at nerve terminals which then exerts its effect and make you feel good. If your doctor has prescribed you sertraline then it is quite obvious that you need it and you don't have to worry about side effects. BUT NEVER SELF MEDICATE YOURSELF WITH SERTRALINE OR ANY OTHER ANTI DEPRESSANTS AND NEVER TAKE IT LONGER THEN THE DURATION FOR WHICH YOU HAVE BEEN PRESCRIBED. Anti Depressants have may increase suicidal tendencies especially in younger patients. But if you have been prescribed by some doctor then you are good to go and don't have to worry much about side effects. If you feel any change in behavior or your family members notice some change in your behavior since the start of medication, contact your doctor immediately.
