I used to clench my teeth intentionally for about a week before the start of orthodontic treatment not knowing it was bad for health, now I sometimes feel like I clench during the night, is it due to my orthodontic treatment or my past habit and will it cause mandibular deformation? I have been undergoing orthodontic treatment for over a year now.

Dear lybrate user, the clenching is not due to your treatment. It's becoming a habit which you should try to avoid as excessive clenching puts pressure on our teeth, leads to wearing off of the chewing surfaces and might also break your braces. Be careful and give up the habit.

If it's not severe then it should not be a major issue.
