Several treatments can minimize the appearance of marks, but will not eliminate them.  Light chemical peels and microdermabrasion will help somewhat, but laser treatments such as the fractional co2 laser are more effective.  A series of these treatments is usually necessary.  Sun protection is important.

. Sunscreen and sunprotection- this forms the absolute cornerstone of management. You need to be on this for the duration of any treatment. 2. Apply a kojic acid cream for at least 8 weeks. 3. Chemical peels such as glycolic acid can help. You will need 4-16 treatments over the next few months.

I have some fungal infection between fingers of feet. What medicine I should use to get rid of it. Please advise me.

I have some fungal infection between fingers of feet. What medicine I should use to get rid of it. Please advise me.
Fungal infection tends to affect folds of the skin, moist areas like groins, armpits, mouth, genitals, under the breasts, webs between fingers and toes, etc. Our skin protects us from fungal/yeast attack, but any cut or break in the continuity of the skin can allow penetration of fungus. It gives rise to rash, eruptions, redness, burning, intolerable itching and abnormal discharges at times. Fungal infection tends to last for many years if not treated well. It is also contagious. You can apply antifungal creams like clotrimazole. Consult on private chat with clinical photographs for detailed treatment.

1. Hygiene is important to keep fungal infection at bay. Take bath twice and change your inner garments too. 2. Keep your private area clean and dry. Fungal infection is contagious, one should avoid sharing towels, handkerchief, and inner garments with 3. Use pure cotton clothes as cotton tends to absorb moisture, keeping your body dry. Synthetic fibers tend to cause fungal infection. 4. Wear loose fitting clothes so that air circulation is proper in groin areas and axillae. 5.Never keep your skin wet for too long. Acne can cause red or brown discoloration and uneven skin contour. Usually multiple types of treatments are needed for maximum improvement. Patience is key since the full effect is often not seen for several months. Skin discoloration and texture can be improved with topical treatments like hydroquinone and Retin-A, but for deeper scars and more significant discoloration, other techniques are needed. You can consult on private chat with clinical photographs for treatment prescription.

Hi! Acne / pimples occur mainly due to hormonal imbalances which causes an overproduction of oil and cells inside a skin follicle. They block the opening of the skin pore and cause the follicle under the skin to swell and become red.  There are many over the counter medications available in pharmacy but you need to use skin products which are most suitable to your skin. Avoid taking anti-acne medications without knowing your skin type. Treatment of acne includes medicines to reduce the breakouts, use of skin products such as face wash, cleansers, moisturisers according to your skin type and a whole range of  procedures like peels, laser therapy to reduce the current outbreaks and clean the skin, extract blackheads and whiteheads and clean clogged pores. They are safe and do not harm your skin in a long run. You can consult on private chat with clinical photographs for treatment.

Plz give me some tips to clear my dark circles and how to stop it from happening and what to use?

Plz give me some tips to clear my dark circles and how to stop it from happening and what to use?
Dark circles are fairly common problem many people face. While ageing is the primary cause of dark circles, but with the changing lifestyle, hectic work schedule and poor nutrition, more and more people are facing dark circles. Those who are anaemic, are stresses out, have poor digestion, stay dehydrated or have a family history of dark circles are more prone to dark circles. Skin around eyes is the thinnest and that is why poor blood circulation in that particular area appears more prominently in the form of blue/black eyes. The best treatment to treat dark circles is to increase oxygen circulation in your body with the help of exercises, yoga. Taking break between hectic work schedule and splashing your eyes with cold water 2-3 times a day is helpful. Drink plenty of water throughout the day, have a balanced diet, eat more iron and zinc containing foods like dates, nuts and dry fruits. Many topical creams that contain kojic acid helps to reduce dark circles but they should be taken after consulting a good dermatologist only. Some latest treatments like light therapy, skin resurfacing and injectable fillers give faster and long lasting results, but before you choose one it's important to determine the cause.

Hi! Dandruff is a common occurence. It has a tendency to recur. You have to take continuous efforts to keep it at bay. 1. Shampoo hair as frequently as required. Keep the hair clean. 2. Avoid hair styling products till dandruff goes off. 3. Use anti dandruff shampoo which contains ketoconazole once or twice a week. 4.Oil clean washed hair. 5. Do not try to scrape or comb away the flakes. Be gentle with your hair and scalp. 6. Wash your combs and brushes regularly. Do not share them. Pimples occur mainly due to hormonal imbalances which causes an overproduction of oil and cells inside a skin follicle. They block the opening of the skin pore and cause the follicle under the skin to swell and become red. It usually starts in teenage, but most of the time lasts into adulthood.  1. Avoid breaking the boils  2. Use a good sunscreen properly

Know Everything About Chemical Peeling!

MBBS, DNB (Dermatology)
Dermatologist, Mumbai
Know Everything About Chemical Peeling!

Chemical peeling is a skin treatment which involves the peeling of the old skin and its replacement by a new layer of skin. It is generally done on the face, neck or arms and the process involves the application of a chemical solution over the skin in order to improve the overall appearance. The chemical peeling process is generally used to treat common skin disorders like - acne, wrinkles, scars, and such others.

Common uses

The chemical peeling process is mostly used to treat skin ailments in general. Some of the most common uses of a chemical peeling are as follows:

Reducing fine lines on the face

  1. Curing and preventing certain types of acne
  2. Healing damages caused due to sun burns
  3. Reducing age spots, dark patches and freckles on the face
  4. Improving the softness and overall quality of skin

What should you keep in mind before opting for a chemical peel?

A chemical peel is a huge step towards the treatment of your skin, thus, you should always consult a dermatologist before actually opting for a chemical peeling process. It is a highly recommended measure because chemical peeling in some cases might not suit your skin. So, a complete skin diagnosis by a doctor helps to minimize the possible side effects related to the chemical peeling process. In general, this process is preferred in cases of people having a fair toned skin accompanied by a light hair growth. Before you get a chemical peel done, your doctor might just examine your medical history in order to stop certain medications that you are taking currently. Additionally, the doctor might also prescribe you certain medications, such as Retin-A, Renova, or glycolic acid to boost up the peeling process. The doctor may also prescribe antibiotics or antiviral drugs to ensure that the process is not having any side effects.

How is it actually done?

Chemical peels are usually done after a proper cleansing of the skin and then choosing the appropriate type of peel to suit your skin type. After cleansing of the skin the doctor usually applies a chemical solution such as glycolic acid, trichloroacetic acid, salicylic acid, lactic acid, or carbolic acid (phenol) - to small areas of your skin. The peeling process usually lasts for a few minutes and the chemical helps in making controlled wounds on the skin in order to damage the old skin and allow the new skin to grow.
