Causes and cosmetic treatment for Acne scars
Acne is one of the common problem faced by the teenager's even middle aged females and males nowadays and it is a very irritating problem because it leaves behind very dirty marks and scars. If it were left alone then the marks and scars wouldn't be there because of pricking and breaking of the boils. Dirty marks pits or scars as we call them are left behind. Sometimes very big pustular acne on their own also can leave behind scars. It is very easy to take care of acne. But it is very difficult to take care of scars. The definitely affect one's self confidence and also in your day to day life it will affect your activities as well. Lot of importance is given to one's own look nowadays. So a clear face is very important.
Modern medicine offers a lot of modalities in the treatment for the same. The simplest one are peels in which specific medicines are applied on the face and that takes off the top most layers of the skin thereby taking care of the marks as well. There is another advance thing in this that is known as oxygen peel. That also refreshes the skin in addition to reduce the formation of new acne as well. The next step in this is microdermabrasion that also uses either power crystals. Or it is going to use a diamond tip to remove the top dead layers of the skin. This again also with its suction action open up all the pores that are there and also open up all the commodores.
The third step in this is usually micro needling. Now this is a procedure which goes in depth trying to clear of the marks and scars from the depth. It is required sometimes and numbing cream. The instrument itself has got multiple needles on a barrel which is rolled on to the skin to regenerate from the below and thereby help in the lift up of the scars. This requires multiple sessions but the results are very beautiful. The state of our treatment for acne scars is fractional carbon dioxide laser resurfacing. Now this is a laser that can penetrate right up to the depth of the skin where the scars are formed. It can break of the fibrous bands which is holding the skin below and lift them from below itself. Now this laser can treat the superficial part as well as the deeper part thereby giving a complete clearing of acne its marks and its scars.
The treatment option will depend on the individual what they want what you want what final result is desired by both. Also the target is important the skin type also the work type of the patient is also important. Also one of the most important things that does matter in this will be the time duration and definitely not to mention the cost factor. Because none of these procedures are going to be covered by any med claim or an insurance policy since these are all the cosmetic procedures.

Male pattern baldness is hair loss due to underlying susceptibility of hair follicles to shrink owing to the influence of androgens. It is the most common cause of baldness in men. Typically, hair loss occurs at the vertex and the temples for men, whereas women usually lose hair all over their scalps.
- Male pattern baldness is related to your genes and male sex hormones. It usually follows a pattern of receding hairline and hair thinning on the crown, and is caused by hormones and genetic predisposition.
- Generally, baldness occurs when the hair follicle shrinks over time, resulting in shorter and finer hair. Eventually, the follicles do not grow new hair. The follicles remain alive, which suggests that it is still possible to grow new hair.
- The typical pattern of male baldness begins at the hairline. The hairline gradually moves backward (recedes) and forms an" m" shape. Eventually the hair becomes finer, shorter, and thinner, and creates a u-shaped (or horseshoe) pattern of hair around the sides of the head.
The cheapest way is to hide it by wearing a wig. Medicines that treat male pattern baldness include:
- Minoxidil (rogaine) - it is a solution that is applied directly to the scalp to stimulate the hair follicles. It slows hair loss for many men, and some men grow new hair. Hair loss returns when you stop using this medicine.
- Finasteride (propecia, proscar) - it is a pill that interferes with the production of a highly active form of testosterone that is linked to baldness. It slows hair loss. It works slightly better than minoxidil. Hair loss returns when you stop using this medicine.
- Dutasteride is similar to finasteride, but may be more effective.
- Hair transplant - this process consists of removing tiny plugs of hair from areas where the hair is continuing to grow and placing them in areas that are balding. This can cause minor scarring and possibly, infection. The procedure requires multiple sessions.

The Ultimate Ritual to keep your Skin Glowing throughout Navratri...
1. Prep Your Skin
A few minutes of preparation before you put your makeup on goes a long way in keeping your skin super radiant throughout the nine days of fun and frolic.
Tone your skin :
Toning is an important part of the cleansing process. A good toning regimen will remove any remaining bits of oil, dirt and debris left behind by washing or cleansing.
More importantly, toning helps soothe, nourish and hydrate the skin while restoring its delicate pH balance.
DIY Home Remedies Skin Toning :
Pour some rose water in a bowl. Place cotton wool pads in it and let it soak in the rose water. Keep the bowl in the fridge. After 15 minutes, remove the bowl and start with wiping your face with the soaked cotton pad. On the cheeks, wipe with outward and upward movements in such a way that each stroke ends at the temples. Lastly, pat the skin with the cotton wool pads and wipe it gently with a soft napkin.
Scrub your skin
Dead skin cells, sweat, dirt, and oil can accumulate and build up on the surface of your skin, day after day. These leave your complexion a little dull and even flaky. Exfoliating with a face scrub can remove this build-up, leaving you with skin that feels clean, smooth and glowing.
DIY Homemade Peel scrub :
Mix powdered almonds with yoghurt. Add dried and powdered mint and basil leaves. Apply the mixture on the face and leave it on for a 15 minutes. Rub gently, with small circular movements. Wash off with water.
Homemade scrubs can work wonders on the skin by removing the dead skin cells and making the skin brighter.
Mask is Must :
Face masks are the perfect skin care treatment to help you with your skin care concerns. The right face mask can help hydrate skin, remove excess oils and help improve the appearance of your pores. They're also an excellent way to help pull out impurities. Masks can deliver higher concentrations of active ingredients to plump, hydrate, and balance the skin. A face mask completes the skin prep regimen leaving your skin smooth and soft.
Refreshing Rose water pack:
In a bowl, mix 1 teaspoon rose water and 1 teaspoon milk powder. Mix into a paste and apply on the face. Wash off after 20 minutes. For oily skin, replace milk powder with Fullers earth (multani mitti) for the same paste. After applying the face mask, take two of the cotton wool pads soaked in rose water and use them as eye pads.
Skin Conditioning Fruit pack :
Mix grated apples with ripe papaya pulp and mashed banana. Add a little yoghurt or lemon juice. Apply it all over your face and neck and leave it on for half an hour. Wash it off.
2. Enticing Eyes : If you love to enjoy garba every night, then you need to look out for eye bags or puffy eyes.
So the best and natural way to do it is by getting enough sleep. Get 8 hours of sleep every single night
DIY Homemade Cucumber Mint Eye Mask
Blend a cucumber with 4-5 mint leaves. Add a small amount of water to thin the juice. Dip 10-15 cotton pads in the juice and gently squeeze them to get rid of excess juice with your palm. Place the cotton pads flat and separated in a clear bag and freeze them until they are iced. At the end of the day, just take two cotton pads out of the bag and place them over your eyes for around 20-25 minutes.
Cucumber is high in water content and vitamin K, which plays a huge role in refreshing and bringing your tired eyes back to a healthy state. Cucumber is also very effective in reducing the appearance of dark circles, hydrating and soothing the skin around your eyes. Mint has a cooling effect and soothes and removes the under eye bags making your eyes more youthful and lively. By soaking the cotton pads in the cucumber juice and refrigerating them, you can maximize the benefits and have your masks ready whenever you need them.
3. Make up :
Always go for waterproof makeup.
Navratri falls in the hot humid month of October. The dancing makes you excessively sweaty.
Waterproof makeup will keep your eyeliner, lipstick and foundation in place.
Apply a light foundation. Don't go all out with your foundation because when you sweat, the foundation will start to look cakey.
Do remember to remove the makeup however tired you are.
Use these skin-friendly makeup removers to keep your face blemish free.
Soak a cotton ball in milk with a few drops of almond oil to remove your make-up.
Wipe away your eye make-up or bold lip colour with cotton ball soaked in baby oil.
4. Flaunt your Back
Navratri is the perfect time to wear those backless cholis and blouses.
But before you do that it is better to get your back waxed and polished.
DIY Rejuvenating Turmeric Back Scrub : Mix 1 cup sugar, 2 teaspoon turmeric powder and 1 1/2 cup of coconut oil to make a coarse paste. Apply this paste and gently massage the mixture, in circular motions, on your skin. Wash the mixture off with luke warm water.
This works as quick fix for your dull back skin, making it clear, smooth and shining.
5. Prep Your Hair :
You would love to flaunt Your Luscious Long Hair at Garba and Dandiya Nights.
For dull hair, have a quick conditioning treatment before your shampoo.
Conditioning Hair mask
Mix one teaspoon of vinegar and almond oil. Massage into the hair. Do the hot towel wrap. Wash hair after half an hour. Hair will look smooth, bouncy and shiny.
To soften rough, bushy or frizzy hair, mix some water with a creamy hair conditioner and put it in a spray bottle. Spray the mixture on the hair. Then comb the hair, so that it spreads through the hair.
6. Hands and Feet Care
Give yourself a manicure and pedicure well before Navratri begins. If you don’t have time for one, rub your hands and legs with a mixture of sugar and lemon juice.
7. Hydrate :
Continuous and vigorous dancing tends to dehydrate you and your skin. Hydrating your body with ample water is the first trick to a glowing skin during dandiya. Have everything from water, fresh juices, lime water and coconut water as well. This will hydrate your body and give your skin a glow from within. Increase your fluid intake at least by a litre. A helpful tip is to carry lime juice concentrate with sugar, black salt and black pepper powder added. All you have to do is to add water to the concentrate, take a break and sip it slowly … and you will feel as energetic as ever.
8. Relive your feet
Dancing your heart out can cause your feet to revolt.
And you have 9 whole days to dance your heart out.
A simple remedy can help to soothe your aching feet and you are back again with your dancing shoes on ...
The Invigorating Foot Bath
You will require 1/2 cup baking soda, 1/2 cup Epson salt, 1 cup apple cider vinegar, 5 or 6 drops of lavender (alternatively basil or rosemary) essential oil.
Fill a tub big enough to hold both your feet comfortably and fill it with hot water. Add all the ingredients and relax. Add marbles into your foot bath and roll your feet over them for a massage.
9. Skin Allergies
Jewellery, costumes and sweating can cause irritation and sometimes red rashes, itchiness, pricking on skin or boils.
Remember to remove the jewellery before sleeping. Wipe them with a soft cloth to remove the sweat and grime on them (It maintains the jewellery and reduces the chances of allergies)
Remove makeup gently with baby oil. Apply ice compresses on the affected area. Application of little baby oil or virgin coconut oil will soothe the skin.
See a Dermatologist immediately if rashes persist or increase or if there are angry boils.

Skin cancer most often develops on skin that has faced sun exposure. At the same time, it can also affect skin areas that haven't been exposed to sun's rays.
Do you know, skin cancer can be prevented by consuming some foods?
Yes, and there are some out there:
- Fruits - Including Citrus fruits in your diet can shield you against melanoma as they contain the beneficial antioxidants which protect you from the deleterious effects of sun rays.
- Vegetables - This is another food option that is known to possess strong skin cancer-fighting properties. A pigment found in tomatoes called lycopene has properties that guard you against cardiovascular diseases as well as cancers of all kinds.
- Herbs - Including herbs in your diet can help in replenishing the minerals and vitamins that get depleted due to the action of the sun. According to experts, about 80% of your body's vitamin levels see a reduction when you stay under the sun for 30-45 minutes. Basil, parsley, and rosemary are a few of the herbs that possess cancer-fighting qualities.
Chemical peeling is a skin treatment which involves the peeling of the old skin and its replacement by a new layer of skin. It is generally done on the face, neck or arms and the process involves the application of a chemical solution over the skin in order to improve the overall appearance. The chemical peeling process is generally used to treat common skin disorders like - acne, wrinkles, scars, and such others.
The chemical peeling process is mostly used to treat skin ailments in general. Some of the most common uses of a chemical peeling are as follows:
- Reducing fine lines on the face
- Curing and preventing certain types of acne
- Removing light to mild scars
- Treating wrinkles on the face
- Healing damages caused due to sun burns
- Reducing age spots, dark patches and freckles on the face
- Improving the softness and overall quality of skin
What should you keep in mind before opting for a chemical peel?
A chemical peel is a huge step towards the treatment of your skin, thus, you should always consult a dermatologist before actually opting for a chemical peeling process. It is a highly recommended measure because chemical peeling in some cases might not suit your skin. So, a complete skin diagnosis by a doctor helps to minimize the possible side effects related to the chemical peeling process. In general, this process is preferred in cases of people having a fair toned skin accompanied by a light hair growth. Before you get a chemical peel done, your doctor might just examine your medical history in order to stop certain medications that you are taking currently. Additionally, the doctor might also prescribe you certain medications, such as Retin-A, Renova, or glycolic acid to boost up the peeling process. The doctor may also prescribe antibiotics or antiviral drugs to ensure that the process is not having any side effects.
How is it actually done?
Chemical peels are usually done after a proper cleansing of the skin and then choosing the appropriate type of peel to suit your skin type. After cleansing of the skin the doctor usually applies a chemical solution such as glycolic acid, trichloroacetic acid, salicylic acid, lactic acid, or carbolic acid (phenol) - to small areas of your skin. The peeling process usually lasts for a few minutes and the chemical helps in making controlled wounds on the skin in order to damage the old skin and allow the new skin to grow.
A head full of the lush silky mane is what everyone desires as it enhances one's personality and physical image but with the growing levels of pollution and workload, it becomes difficult to maintain its health and beauty. There are a number of factors that contribute to the deterioration of hair and stress is one of them.
Stress is a complimentary ingredient in today's lifestyle. Hectic work schedules, maintaining a social life and many other reasons invite stress and it has become increasingly difficult to avoid. There are three types of hair fall that can be attributed to stress and anxiety.
- Telogen effluvium - There are three stages in the life cycle of hair, growth, resting and shedding stage. Stress and anxiety incurred from physical trauma, severe accident, illness and pregnancy can cause sudden and in most cases temporary hair fall. Sudden stress shocks the hair follicles and pushes them to the resting stage resulting in hair fall from combing or washing. This type of hair loss has been termed as Telogen effluvium.
- Trichotillomania - Pulling out hair from the scalp, eyebrows can be a way of dealing with stress. Inner palpitation, tension, anxiety has a way of coming to the surface and it has been noticed in some people that they unknowingly pull their hair out to cope with stress and in worst cases they also make a habit of it. This condition is commonly referred to as Trichotillomania.
- Alopecia areata - Hair falls out from certain portions of the scalp exposing scattered patches of skin. There are several reasons for this condition known as Alopecia areata, and stress has been identified as one. With alopecia, the immune system of the body attacks the hair follicles causing them to shed.
Hair fall from stress is rarely permanent and resumes to its normal shedding routine once the stress subsides. However, abnormal shedding of hair is usually an indication of a deep-rooted medical condition which should be treated immediately.
Irritation on your scalp can be an embarrassing and frustrating problem, especially when you get the continuous urge to scratch your head. There can be lots of causes for an itchy scalp and it is important to identify the cause and treat it accordingly. Some of them include:
1. Seborrheic dermatitis or dandruff
The symptoms of this condition include redness, irritation and skin flakes. Seborrheic dermatitis can occur in any part of the body due to excessive growth of a fungus called malassezia and when it hits the scalp it is called dandruff. It can be a recurring problem for some, but it is treatable with prescribed shampoos and steroid creams. Cosmetic shampoos targeted to cure dandruff works too.
2. Head lice
Not only children, but adults can get lice too. It is mistakenly thought that poor scalp health causes lice but actually they breed in clean hair. Small white flakes that look like dandruff are actually lice eggs that cannot be shed off easily; they need to be treated with medicated shampoos containing insecticides pyrethrin or permethrin.
Psoriasis is an autoimmune skin disorder that can occur in any part of the body including the scalp. The symptoms are same as dandruff with raised red patches of skin. People with psoriasis are more likely to incur dandruff and itchy scalp. The exact cause of the disorder is not known, though heredity is a popular belief.
4. Eczema and allergic reactions
Redness, flakes, irritation are the signs of eczema and allergic reactions. During summers with excessive perspiration the condition worsens. It usually occurs in children but adults can get eczema too. Over the counter medications helps in reducing the severity of the symptoms and gradually heal the condition.
What you need to know about the ring-shaped rash called lupus
Lupus is an inflammatory disease that is chronic in nature. It occurs when your tissues and organs are attacked by your body's own immunity system. The inflammation that this disease causes can affect the other parts of your body as well, like the joints, kidneys, skin, brain etc. It is often difficult to diagnose because it lacks distinct symptoms. However, one of the most identifiable symptoms of lupus is a ring-shaped rash on the face.
Lupus can be caused by a number of factors like:
- Excessive exposure to sunlight
- Susceptibility towards infections
- Certain anti-seizure, blood pressure and antibiotic medicines
The symptoms are neither distinct nor regular. However, some common symptoms could be-
- Fatigue and fever
- Pain in the joints, stiffness and swelling
- Ring-shaped facial rash
- Skin lesions on exposure to the sun
- Chest pain and shortness of breath
What else can lupus lead to?
Several complications may arise if lupus is left untreated. Some of them are-
- Kidney damage and failure
- Hallucination, seizures, strokes and several other problems associated with the brain and the central nervous system
- Anemia, blood clotting, vasculitis etc.
- Increased susceptibility to pneumonia
- Increased risk of heart attacks and other cardiovascular diseases
Lupus is a significantly dangerous disease and medical help should be immediately sought if you think that you have symptoms associated with it. Treatment depends on the signs and symptoms of individual patients.
The skin of a newborn baby is very fragile. It is thin and has low pigmentation. It takes quite some time (about a year) for the epidermis to develop and function effectively. Once the baby turns one, the skin gets thicker and more immune to skin problems. Here are some common skin problems found in almost every infant.
1 Diaper rash
Diaper rash is the development of red and inflamed skin in the area under the diaper. It is recommended to check the diaper for any wetness at regular intervals, and to change it when required. The diaper should not be too tight or left on too long. Applying a diaper rash ointment and keeping the area dry and open whenever possible can help in relieving your baby from the problem.
2 Baby acne
Development of acne/pimples on the skin of an infant is a common occurrence. It is advised to not to apply anything on it. It mostly resolves on its own in a couple of days.
3 Prickly heat
Prickly heat rashes are the rashes which develop on the face, neck, back or the bottom of the baby because of heat. To deal with this situation you should try to keep the infant cool and dry (not let him/her sweat) and ensure that they wear loose and comfortable clothes made of cotton.
Rashes that develop on the scalp, eyebrows, cheeks, chest, and/or neck of a newborn baby (up to 6 months), are known as seborrhea. It appears to be gruesome, but does not bother the baby. It is recommended to use mild baby shampoo and creams to get rid of the problem. If there is no improvement, see a dermatologist.
20% of the babies suffer from a very itchy skin rash known as 'eczema'. The affected area of the skin may turn red, ooze pus or crust over. It can be a result of an irritation caused due to sweating in a hot weather or due to the drying up of skin in a cold weather. Some clothing, specifically wool can even trigger this skin condition in a baby.
