I hope that you have tried these antidepressants in maximum dose and also for at least 3-6 weeks duration. Treatment resistant depression has its own flow chart of add ons like thyroxine, samE, 5 HT and varied therapies. At times review of diagnosis, may be necessary. What antidepressant you are taking now? What is the dose? Since how long, you are on this dose?

Medications stoppage can lead to relapse if symptoms which can happen after few weeks or months. If there has been a past relapse on stopping medications it is advisable to continue the same. Initial stoppage of medications can provide a sense of well being, but on longer run can be harmful.
