Mifegest 200 MG Tablet
It is a medication that is used to bring about abortion in only those women who have been pregnant for about seven weeks or fifty days. It is taken along with the combination of misoprostol.
This medication interferes with the hormones that help in pregnancy continuation. It is a synthetic steroid. A doctor should be consulted before taking this medicine and should not be self-prescribed under any circumstances.
Inform your doctor, if you are older than 35 years, you smoke more than 10 cigarettes a day, you have asthma problem or have any kind of lungs, liver or kidney diseases, you are pregnant outside the uterus region, you are allergic to any of the medication content or if you are taking any anticoagulants.
A women should not take Mifegest 200 MG Tablet if she is/has:
- An ectopic pregnancy
- Treated with long-term corticosteroid medicines
- Inherited porphyria
- Problem with the adrenal glands
- Bleeding problems or is taking anticoagulant (blood-thinning) medication
- An intrauterine device (IUD) in place, it must be removed before taking this medication.
The dose that is generally given is 200 MG orally once and after say about 2-3 days the dosage is increased to about 800 MG every 24 to 48 hours. However, these are not the dosage patterns that you should assign to yourself and should always consult a doctor.
This medication is prescribed for the purpose of termination of pregnancy which are less than 10 weeks old. It is also used for labour induction in case of a getup death. It is also used for managing elevated sugar levels in patients having Cushing’s syndrome coupled with glucose intolerance type diabetes.
The dosage for this medication will be prescribed by your doctor depending on your age, weight, health, and current condition. After 7 days, you must visit your doctor to check if you are still pregnant. Also, track the quantity and frequency of the bleeding.

The medication is acceptable for medical termination of pregnancy which is about 63-70 days old only. A pregnant woman who is not looking for an abortion should completely avoid taking it and should not used this medication for the purpose of high sugar level along with elevated cortisol.

When using it for elevated sugar levels, the missed dose should be taken as soon as possible and if it is almost time for the next dose, then it should be avoided. In case of termination of pregnancy, it is a single dose therapy.
