lybrate-user, Thanks for the query.
It is nice to know you have delivered a healthy baby. Now if there symptoms like muscle pain and joint pain, it is better to get a thyroid test done. Because symptoms of hyperthyroidism can return after soe time. Because your TSH level is fairly low. So please come back with values of free T3 & T4. Thanks.

You can't stop methimez in hyperthyroid pt. Just to see if she tolerate without it, taking these regularly is a must. Regarding iodine 131 treatment. Chances are many patients go on to develop hypothyroidism after i131 therapy for which they need to take lifelong treatment. Now you have to take the final call.

Hyperthyroidism treatment consists of oral medicines like methimazole, carbimazole and propylthiouracil. Other measures like thyroid ablation by radioisotope and surgery are also indicated in some cases. Kindly contact me with all the reports if possible.

For hyperthyroidism radioactive iodine or some drugs like propylthiouracil, methimazole (tapazole) are given. Radioactive iodine is taken up by thyroid gland and its functioning is stopped. Later patient has to take thyroxine hormone as a replacement therapy. Anti thyroid drugs have more side effects, may not be preferred. Last resort is surgery.

Mr Rajesh, Hyperthyroidism is treated with anti thyroid drugs like Methimazole, carbimazole and propylthiouracil for about a few months, that will control excess thyroxine secretion.
Some time radio active iodine is used to reduce excess thyroxine production or some times thyroid surgery may be used.

Hi. Treatment for hyperthyroidism was initially start of with medicine like neo marcazole, methimazole or propyl thiouracil .etc .based on patient symptoms the dose of the drug may be adjusted accordingly. If patient still had symptoms even with maximum dose then advice to go surgery like thyrodectomy.

Hello, Thanks for the query.
It appears you are having hyperthyroidism. This condition is treated with drugs like Methimazole or carbimazole. The treatment has to go on for 18 to 24 months, before the excess activity is controlled. Once proper control is achieved, treatment is discontinued. In some cases the gland may again become over active. Then further treatment is necessary. If the activity is further increased then treatment may have to be reconsidered.
