Do not substitute or change any medications without the consent of the doctor who is treating the patient. If needed you can discuss about your doubts to the doctor who can help you understand the situation. The doctor tries to give what suits the individual patient and asks you to come for review regularly ( personal examniantion ) so that the present prescription is based on clinical and other findings.

Hi Lybrate user. The estimation of GFR should be done always in consultation with a nephrologist as there are lot of other factors to be taken into account. And the normal values of GFR has a very wide range. Hence do a consult a nephrologist before getting worried unnecessarily. Also do a urine routine to look for protein loss.

Keep BP under control. That is the most important. Check BP once every month. Whether ayurvedic or modern is your choice. Active part of mukta vati is reserpine, quite ok medicine. Reserpine was regularly used in modern medicine till 1984, when it got replaced by newer ones. Pharmaceutical companies sometimes encourage Drs to do such changes without good reason.
