I am a diabetic from past 20 years. Recently my doctor changed the tablets as under: Morning half an hour before breakfast - Gemer 2 mg (Glimepiride 2 mg, Metformin 500 mg) After breakfast 1 No. Jalra M 50/500 (Vildagliptin 50 MG Metformin 500 MG) In the night half an hour before dinner Gemer 2 mg (Glimepiride 2 mg, Metformin 500 mg) After dinner Pioz 7.5 mg (Pioglitazone 7.5 MG) Now blood sugar as under: Before breakfast 121 mg After breakfast 205 mg Before meal 87 mg After meal 167 mg My question is, after breakfast, can I reduce 1 tablet to half tablet of Jalra M 50/500 (Vildagliptin 50 MG Metformin 500 MG)

I was diagnosed with dm 2 about two years back. Iam on amaryl-m1 bd & has hba1c of 7. I started feeling extra sensation under the feet, heaviness in foot, leg, thighs from about a month or two, some pain in hip area and finally difficulty in lifting one leg about 2 weeks days back along with knee weakness in one leg although other leg has been affected to a lesser extent till date. I never experienced very sharp pain & 2 weeks back had mild pain in my buttocks for about a week. The loss of movement in the 2 directions direction in the leg & knee weakness was quite quick about 10-12 days back. Now I do not feel any pain but had some falls primarily on account of knee weakness or weakness in right leg. Mri scan, ct scan were ok but problem was reported in nerve conduction test in both legs but mainly in right leg. Was diagnosed with peripheral neuropathy or diabetic amyotrophy which correlates with my overall symptoms. Doctor put me on 8 day course of prednisone (40mg-10mg) with insulin. My sugar with amaryl m1 as on now is under control & I take light food with reasonable physical activity & sugar levels now seems to be ok 92 fasting /140 pp. Also started visiting a physiotherapist from today. As of know there is appears to be some improvements in my walking (can walk 15-20 min at a stretch inside home) though weakness in one leg & knee persist. I cannot drive due to difficulty in movement of my right leg when trying to move it sideways while sitting. It is also not possible to lift the right leg against gravity when laying down though backward lifting & movement on sideways when lying on one side are intact. Have been prescribed pregaba m 75 (hs, neurkind+. Have no pain of any type. My questions 1) has peripheral neuropathy reached a plateau ie. Stopped or not 2) is pregabalin needed in my case as I have no pain, i. E. Whether it play a role in nerve regeneration or is overall beneficial in such situation 3) can I expect improvement in my right leg in 1-2 months time with sugar control & exercises.

1. Peripheral neuropathy is a on going process even in normal individuvals as age advances due to deficiency of vitamins mainly b12
2. In your case pregabalin is needed for some time 3. Nerve regeneration is impossible for anyone 4. Definitely you can expect improvement in the right leg in 1-2 months with good control of sugar & exercises.

Triglimisave 2 and metformon can not be vompared and sjould not be used as substitute to each other.
Trihlimisave contains 3 medicines and metformin is one of them.

Sir, I am suffering from diabetes from the last one year, I have not gone for FBS & PPBS test from the last 04 months. But I am taking only RBS test. My present RBS is 150. I am using Metformin 500 mg (Exermet 500 mg) daily 1 tab. Is it required to go for FBS & PPBS test also? Sir/Madam, kindly convey your medical advise.

Better if you do it. Both reports has its own importance. With it consider doing HBA1c, Lipid profile and urine albuminuria.

I have been found diabetic from one year. I consulted a MD and he prescribed metformin+ glimepiride tabs. After two months he prescribed only metformin SR 500. From then I am using them. After first report I never go beyond fasting 110 and PP 130 in several tests. I quit sweet taste from a year. My question is can I consume any fruit in some small quantity? Is there any problem if I drink tea with sugar occasionally?

Yes you can have results in fact high fiber content fruits will help you manage your blood sugar levels better.
Tea can be taken by cutting down half amount of sugar, which you generally use.
Add ginger, mint, cardamon to your tea, to compensate on the taste of sweet tea.

I am 63 years old, and am a diabetic for over twenty years. Do not visit doctors frequently. But taking the same medicine - geminor m 2 (metformin hydrochloride prolonged release & glimepiride) and tenepride m 500 (teneligliptin & metformin hydrochloride tables 20 mg + 500 mg) - twice daily. Please advise whether these are ok.

I have seen the details given. There is no mention of fasting, pp glucose values, hba1c%, present dietary pattern, extent of daily exercise, weight and height, plus bp readings and lipid profile. To give any kind of suggestion or advise I need to know all the above details.
When diabetes is well controlled fasting glucose should be < 100 mg, pp 160 to 170 mg & hba1c% < 6.8. Thanks.

I am 51 year old male have type 2 diabetes since last 11 years. Initially I have been treated with metformin 250 mg alone but now I am taking lot of medicine. Metformin 750 mg, glimepiride 2 mg, saxagliptin 250 mg both twice a day, and jardiance 25 mg. In addition to it insulin apidra 54 units and glaritus 30 units a day. Am I not under over dose or all those medicine mentioned above are vital to maintain my blood sugar levels.

I am diabetic for 15 years managed so for with diet exercise and one 500 mg metformin. However last 1 year my sugar was not in control and hb1ac has crossed 9. So I started using metformin+ glimepiride 0.5 mg. (glycometgp0. 5 sr). I am also a gerd patient chronic and using esomat 20 mg once in two days. However after taking this tablet sugar is getting controlled but my left and right lower back is continuously paining and at times stomach pain.

Type 2 diabetes, on medicine, metformin - 1g bd, glimepiride 2 mg od since 2 yr. Hb1ac - 6.8, fbc and pp normal, creatinine - 0.5,muscular pain on legs and fatigue. For last 10 days, last two days I reduce to metformin 500 mg bd, now ok no pain feeling good, is it lactic acidosis?
