Dear Mr. lybrate-user, I note that your fasting blood sugar is under better control after you changed your medication. However your post meal blood sugar is on the high side and I note that your weight is only 60 kg which is a bit low for your height. Check with your family doctor about the need to take insulin for improving diabetes control and to gain weight to optimal body weight

Dear gyanmala lybrate-user,
it seems like secondary drug failure of diabetes medicine. You need to work on detailed diabetes management that includes diet and exercise also. As long as sugar levels are concerned it is advisable you to add insulin therapy at present as sugar levels are way above normal readings. Weakness you are having is possibly due to high blood sugars.
You can contact me on this platform for detailed consultation.
Take care.

Mr. lybrate-user, Thanks for the query.
It appears you are on a fairly high dose of Glimepiride. Metformin (2000 mg) is also fairly high. Usually Glimepiride should not be used more than 4 mg in a day. Even though recommended upper limit is 8 mg, conventionally using more than 4 mg is not advised. Since there is no mention of actual glucose levels (fasting, PP and HbA1c%), there is no way to know how good is the control. Ideally in a well controlled diabetes fasting should be < 100 mg, PP 15...more

If the combination is glimepirde 2 mg & metformin 500 you can definitely take it. Amoral is too expensive. Tab k -glim m2 (blue cross lab) is only 26 plus for 10 tabs you take any one of these instead of amaryl.
