Doctor give me Alprazolam. 0.25 for anxiety disorder. My question how much I take this medicine. Three time a day.

Alprazolam is a drug commonly used by many for anxiety disorder. But it has very high risk of producing dependence particularly in anxiety patients. Many standard international guidelines suggest to use other drugs in long term. Alprazolam should not be used for more than 3 or 4 wks unless otherwise warranted. My kind advice to you is consult a psychiatrist. Do relaxation exercises, avoid smoking /alcohol if any, sleep well, avoid caffeine and frozen foods. Be relaxed stay healthy.

Alprazolam is a good anxiolytic, but carries high dependence potential and serious cognitive and behavioral side effects when taken on a longer run. It is advised not take them more than 14 days. There are other medications e.g SSRI's which can be safely taken for longer duration in anxiety disorde. I am sure the doc who prescribed you this alone is not the apt specialist. Psychiatrist are the right people for you to consult for Anxiety disorder, consult one and get remedy. All the best.
