Dear lybrateuser, -Vitamin D is not life saving, it helps in absorption of calcium & keeping your bones healthy, studies indicate that it helps to prevent cardiovascular disorders, keeps cognitive functions intact as we age, has some role in prevention of cancers, it can be obtained from sunshine, egg yolk, fortified milk & milk products -when you have flu you can be contagious for a day prior to the occurance of symptoms to a week to ten days after it.
