Hye. Thank you for your query. Supplements are what they mean- supplements - they just add to your basic diet. They cannot replace your diet. To stay healthy you need to maintain a good diet. Supplements are needed only if you are deficient in any nutrient, your needs are high or you have a medical condition that calls for supplementation. So, if you take supplements just thinking they are healthy even though your body does not need it, definitely there can be negative effects.
