Hi lybrate-user, albendazole is a safe drug, unless there is any prior allergy history in the child. Usually above 2 years of age, 400 mg is the recommended dose. Sometimes, vitamin deficiency can lead to such symptoms.

Any drug is harmful to child if given in over dose. Albendazole if given in proper dosage it is safe for children. And if your child has completed 2 years of age give 400 mg (10 ml) of albendazole and repeat the same dose after 2 weeks. If the problem still persists the duration of albendazole can be increased and for that you better consult a pediatrician.
