My baby was diagnosed with bilateral grade 3 vur when she was 3 months old. She is 15 months old now. Performed mcug again. Still reflux is at grade 3 for both sides. She is on sporidex from beginning. 1.will vur usually get corrected by itself by 2 year age 2.should we go for alternative like surgery. Is it preferred 3.are there any side effects of long term usage of antibiotics.

Yes with growth it get corrected but will require surgery at a certain age if not improved. Your urologist is the right person to decide the age. Invariably it take place once growth is complete. Till then you have to train you child for pee training. Not to let him accumulate too much urine in bladder so that it back fires. Right now home care and make your child pee every 1 hr irrespective of amount of urine comes out. It will help reduce pressure on bladder and won't let urine go back to kidney. Male child drink more water so that bladder is flushed of any infection. Discuss with urologist home care for such children.
