My wife is 57 years, had her uterus and ovaries were removed 03 years ago, for ovarian cysts. She feeling hot and has excessive sweating, bad temper, etc. Can she put on small dose of estrogen Hormone, for comfort?

Yes, she can take hormone replacement after consulting a gynaecologist. HRT should be taken for the shortest period of time and the smallest dose possible (ideally less than 5 yrs). It helps to tide over menopausal symptoms like hot flushes, night sweats and mood swings. There is a slightly increased risk of breast cancer and blood clot (DVT) formation in women on HRT, so it should not be taken by women at high risk of these diseases.
