Hypothyroidism or Thyroid hormone deficiency can cause irregular periods and weight gain. Thyroid function tests on blood sample (T3, T4,TSH) needs to be done. Thyroid hormone replacement, available as oral tablets, needs to be taken at adequate dose according to the blood test result.
