About Winodyl Syrup
Winodyl Syrup is antibacterial and antifungal. It is used either on its own or in combination to cure inflammatory diseases, endocarditis, dracunculiasis, giardiasis, trichomoniasis and amebiasis. It can only treat certain parasitic and bacterial infections of the vagina, respiratory tract, skin and joints. Winodyl Syrup is sold under the trade name of Flagyl and Flagyl ER.
Like all medicines there are certain associated side effects with the usage of Winodyl Syrup which are dizziness, headache, upset stomach, abdominal pain, vomiting, nausea, reduced appetite, either diarrhea or constipation, blurred vision, clouded thoughts, fever, irritability, aggression, depression, difficulty speaking and breathing, skin rash or redness, a burning sensation, blisters, sore throat, darkening of the urine, rapid or irregular heartbeat and mouth ulcers to name a few. Should the side effects continue or worsen overtime, contact your health care provider right away.
Before starting Winodyl Syrup treatment you should consult with your doctor and tell him/her if you have any allergies, have liver, nerve disorders or blood cell disorders, stomach or intestinal infections such as Crohn’s disease, epilepsy or other kinds of seizures, if you’re pregnant or are planning to become pregnant. In case you are nursing a baby the use of Winodyl Syrup is not recommended as it may pass into breast milk and cause harm to the infant.
Winodyl Syrup comes in both capsule and tablet form. The dosage will be prescribed by your doctor determining your age, gender, overall health and the severity of your condition. The usual dosage in adults for a bacterial infection is about 7.5 mg orally every 6 hours over a period of 7-10 days. And if you are taking it by infusion then the advised dose is about 15 mg once for 1 hour daily over a period of 7-10 days as well. Dose for other treatments vary from one person to another. In case of drug overdose, seek medical attention immediately.

It treats amebiasis which is a parasitic infection that affects the intestine and amebic liver abscess caused by Entamoeba histolytica.
It helps in treating trichomoniasis which is a sexually transmitted disease caused by Trichomonas vaginalis.

Bacterial Infections
