About Roxley Syrup
Roxley Syrup belongs to a group of medicines called macrolide antibiotics. It is used to prevent and treat bacterial infection of the urinary tract and inner layers of the skin. It also treats respiratory infections from both upper and lower airways, such as otitis, sinusitis, pharyngitis, tonsillitis, bronchitis and pneumonia. Roxley Syrup prevents bacteria from growing, by interfering with their protein synthesis. Take Roxley Syrup as directed by your physician. The usual dose is a 150 mg tablet twice daily, taken at morning and evening, before meals.
Roxley Syrup can also cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. Most common side effects are gastrointestinal; diarrhoea, nausea, abdominal pain and vomiting. Less common side effects include central or peripheral nervous system events such as headaches, dizziness, vertigo, and also rashes, abnormal liver function values and alteration in senses of smell and taste.
There are certain medical conditions that can interact with Roxley Syrup. You need to inform your physician if you have the following conditions –
- You are taking or have recently taken any other medicines, including herbal products or drugs obtained without a prescription.
- You are hypersensitive to specific foods, medicines or other allergens.
- You suffer from any kind of liver disease or ergot alkaloids.
- You are pregnant or breastfeeding.
Your dosage will depend on factors like age, the condition, severity and whether or not you have other medical problems. The effect of this medicine can be observed within 1-2 hours of oral administration and lasts for an average duration of 12 hours. Overdose of this drug can result in symptoms of weakness and dizziness.

Roxley Syrup treats bacterial infections of the skin and soft tissue beneath the skin. Symptoms may include red and painful hair base, fever and chills etc.
Infections Of Urinary Tract
It cures infection of the urinary tract given that it is not caused by Gonococcal strain of the bacteria.
Impetigo
Roxley Syrup helps in treating bacterial infection of the skin characterized by red and painful sores on the skin around nose and mouth.
What are the contraindications of Roxley Syrup ?
Roxley Syrup is not recommended for use if you have a history of allergy to it or any other component of the medicine.
Ergot alkaloids
Roxley Syrup should not be used along with medicines containing ergot alkaloids. These ergot medicines are used to treat migraine headaches in most cases.
Roxley Syrup is not recommended for use if you have a severe liver disease or the liver function is severely impaired.

Roxley Syrup is an antibiotic that prevents the growth of bacteria by inhibiting the synthesis of protein in their cells. It binds itself to the bacterial ribosome and inhibits the synthesis of peptides. It diffuses easily into phagocytes and most tissues.
