About Prulifloxacin
Prulifloxacin is used for the treatment of mild infections and cysts in the urinary tract, gastroenteritis including diarrhoea, lower urinary tract complications and in some cases, chronic bronchitis.
Prulifloxacin is a potent antibacterial agent and is the prodrug of ulifloxacin. The drug is mostly administered in single doses daily for a period determined by the doctor, according to the age, weight, medical condition and response to treatment by the patient. Prulifloxacin is a prescription drug available in the form of oral tablets.
There may be some adverse reaction to Prulifloxacin which include insomnia, nausea, vomiting, persistent headaches, photosensitivity and blurred vision, skin rashes and irritation, gastritis, muscular spasms or joint pain. Patients must avoid staying outdoors in bright sunlight for prolonged periods as it may increase photosensitivity and cause complications. It may also lead to eczema and high fever.
The drug however can be potentially fatal to patients who suffer from hypersensitivity, anaphylactic reactions or Stevens-John’s syndrome.
The drug is contraindicated in pregnant, lactating women and children below 18 years of age. It is also not recommended for patients with history of tendon injuries. Patients who suffer from convulsions may have their threshold for seizures reduced by the drug.
