Defective mineralization characterized by abnormal development of bones and teeth, results in a rare genetic disorder known as Hypophosphatasia (HPP). Formation of fragile bones and premature loss of tooth is caused due to this condition. Hypophosphatasia (HPP) also affects the muscles, joints, lungs, the brain and the kidneys. With time, the condition can worsen and may also cause death.
HOW IS HYPOPHOSPHATASIA DIAGNOSED?
Mortality rate in case of Hypophosphatasia, is 50% in the 1st year of life.
