Facial pain can be defined as any probable discomfort or irritation felt in the facial region of the body, which comprises of parts like forehead, eyes, nose, lips, chin and cheeks. This pain may be caused due to an internal or external source. Internal sources of a facial pain can be oral infections, nerve related issues, muscle disorders and such others. On the other hand, an external face injury is caused due to a sudden accident or a disaster.

Mostly the exact cause of facial pain is idiopathic (not known). Although, there are some instances when the nerve can be compressed by nearby blood vessels, aneurysms, or tumors.
