Chalazions are small lumps formed along the edges of eyelids. The lump forms when oil gland in the eyelid becomes blocked. Chalazions are not painful but can affect the vision if they start growing in size. Chalazions usually go away with time but if they persist for a long period it might have to be surgically removed. This condition can be avoided by keeping dirt off from eyelids and keeping the face and hands clean.
HOW IS CHALAZION DIAGNOSED?
Chalazions are often mistaken for styes but stye is an acute infection of the oil gland and it can be painful.
