Amoebiasis may be defined as a parasitic infection, which impacts the intestines of the body. A protozoan, known as Entamoeba histolytica, is primarily responsible for causing this condition. This protozoan enters the body when a person takes in cysts while consuming food or water. Another way in which this may enter the body is when a person is exposed to fecal matter. This condition can be avoided by thoroughly washing fruits and vegetables before consumption and drinking water from a reliable source.
HOW IS AMOEBIASIS DIAGNOSED?
The symptoms of Amoebiasis include pain during bowel movements, loss of weight and diarrhea.
