It is difficult to advise on smoking since studies aren't usually conducted for active smoking habit. But smoking doesn't have much of a relation to how the covid-19 vaccine works on the immune system, only that chronic smokers have decreased immunity. In case you are interested in quitting smoking, we can have a gradual reduction in habit along with medications to take off the unwanted withdrawal symptoms. Especially since at your age, by weaning off smoking habit, there is a high chance to rec...more

See if the following tips help you. Otherwise please come back with more details of your support system.

You can meet with a doctor who will prescribe medications to help you with the craving and to reduce the withdrawal symptoms. To quit do the following: When quitting, you must take one day at a time. If you look too far ahead you will get discouraged and will give up. If you sit and count the number of days you have given up, that will also focus too much on achievement. You must focus on the here and now, on that day to be precise. After all quitting is not that easy due to many factors. So eve...more

It takes one month for THC to leave your body. Just for your information here’s what WebMD has to say: ‘No matter how it gets into your system, it affects almost every organ in your body, and your nervous system and immune system, too. When you smoke pot, your body absorbs THC right away. (If you eat baked goods or another item, it may take much longer for your body to absorb THC, because it has to break down in your stomach before it enters your bloodstream). You may notice changes in your body...more

Distract Yourself. Do the dishes, turn on the tv, take a shower, or call a friend. The activity doesn’t matter as long as it gets your mind off smoking.
Remind yourself why you quit. Focus on your reasons for quitting, including the health benefits (lowering your risk for heart disease and lung cancer, for example), improved appearance, money you’re saving, and enhanced self-esteem.
Get out of a tempting situation. Where you are or what you’re doing may be triggering the craving. If so, ...more

Dear user. I can understand. Tobacco is addictive. Cigarette also contains 4000+ carcinogenic chemicals other than nicotine. Smoking can affect your mouth, throat, lungs, heart, stomach and brain in many ways. Cancer is one among the potential diseases smoking can cause. The best method is to leave it and continue with your will power. There are other methods like Nicotine Replacement therapy and pharmacotherapy combined. Nicotine chewing gums too help as an alternative for cigarettes. But still...more

Dear Jagadish,
If you are able to give a gap in between, it is good for you. Definitely better than a chain smoker.
It is good for you to give up smoking without withdrawal symptoms making you crave for nicotine.
Check whether you need to smoke cigar early in the morning. If it is so, you may need some kind of help to quit smoking.
Don't use daily a bit of cigar instead of only a full cigar on mondays and fridays.
