Putting oil in the ear is only suggested if any insect enters the ear. Leaving oil in can increase infections, if any. Ear pain suggests an infection in your case. Depending whether you have associated fever and cold or not, a proper diagnosis can be obtained in your case. It is advisable to visit the nearest ent specialist to get it physically tested before it can do any damage.

Slap injuries (“cuffing the ears”) can also cause rupture of the ear drum. Most people only complain of having a blocked feeling in the ear with a hearing loss. Occasionally severe dizziness is experienced. When looking at the ear drum there may be greenish or bloody drainage from the hole in the drum.
