Do doctors get to insult or scold their patients in this day and age? As a customer who pays for the treatment, I expect to be treated with compassion and care. I get offended when a doctor ridicules me for how thin I am (i went for ear pain) or what a poor job my parents have done in my upbringing (because I used a swab in ears). What rights to patients have in order to maintain their dignity and get treatment?

No dignified doctor will insult their patients and what happened in your case is not clear and the doctor has to give an explanation.
