Mr hyperthyroidism can be cured by using radio active iodine, which is taken up by thyroid gland and hyperactive thyroid stops functioning. Usually one dose is sufficient but occasionally a repeat dose may have to be given. It is generally very safe drug. Since it stops thyroid function, that has to supplemented by thyroxine tablets daily. Once hyperactivity is controlled other problems will be in check.

Mr. lybrate-user, Thanks for the query.
To find out whether there is any problem with thyroid gland, Thyroid Function Test has to be done. Based on TSH level it is possible to decide whether one has hypothyroidism or hyperthyroidism. Symptoms depend upon what type of the problem is present. Thanks.

Hello, Thanks for the query.
There is nothing "symptoms of thyrroid" because we all have thyroid gland, it produces hormone thyroxine. When it is less or nill person gets Hypothyroidism & when excess it is Hyperthyroidism. Please get your thyroid function test done and come back with the results of the test. Thanks.

Hello, Thanks for the query.
When one is on treatment with adequate quantity of thyroxine, TSH is maintained around 3 to 4 mU/l and all the symptoms are in check. T4 & T3 levels are normal only because one is on treatment. The day one stops it, TSH will be affected and all the symptoms will be back. So treatment has to continue for lifetime. Thanks.
