Asked for male, 38 years old from Allahabad

I am having lower back pain which moves to my right side hip and back of the right thigh, it gets worse after a sitting of hour or two on my office chair and also if you use to get in standing position with lessee movements my pain increases. 10 years back I had a slip disc which was cured with physiotherapy. This time my xray is showing no symptoms of slip disc but there is a very small piece of chip of broken bone is hanging there in my l5 vertebrae. Doctors are saying this may be or may not be the reason of pain. Whenever I take aceclofenac I get relief but after that my pain starts hitting me again and it is continued for last three months. Please advise. I am taking tens therapy and fomentation with heating pad at home with some back strengthening exercise but the improvement in my pain is 0. Please advise.

Get mri of lumbar spine. Consult either spine surgeon or orthopaedic surgeon. In the mean time avoid sitting for more than 30 minutes. Do not bend forwards, modify your chair-table so that you sit with your back straight. Do hot fomentation and apply gel to painful back.

A 'slipped' (prolapsed) disc often causes sudden, severe lower back pain. The disc often presses on a nerve root which can cause pain and other symptoms in a leg. In most cases, the symptoms ease off gradually over several weeks. The usual advice is to carry on as normal as much as possible. Painkillers may help. Physical treatments such as spinal manipulation may also help. Surgery may be an option if the symptoms persist.

Cervical disc disease is a group of cervical disc disorders that include cervical herniated nucleus pulposus, cervical degenerative disc disease, and cervical internal disc disruption.
A diagnosis is based on a medical history and a physical examination, as well as the symptoms and the circumstances where the pain started. Magnetic resonance imaging can show damage to discs, but it alone cannot confirm degenerative disc disease.

You need to post your mri images. If there is compression of nerve, you need a decompression procedure of some sort. If you are put on a rehab, follow strictly the protocol and find improvement in 6 weeks and further down the line.
