Over stress can affect your body's immune system and cause you to get sick more easily. Stress for a long period of time can attract several other diseases and that could be as critical as cancer and heart disease.

We visited to a neuro psychiatry doctor for my father as he was getting irritated for small things and very serious in small things. He took the medicine as prescribed by the doctor for one month. And for some skin issue he visited a doctor and was asked for diabetics test. Also taking medicine for skin disease as prescribed by doctor. Diabetics was normal earlier and after the test it came 465 (after food. So also he visited the diabetics doctor and is taking medicine for also. And now the neuro psychiatry doctor has changed the medicine which he has taken for 3 days and is denying to take and telling I can't take several medicine at a time. His mental condition is somewhat fine now. He is not getting irritated as he was getting earlier. So my query is can he stop the medicine prescribed by the neuro psychiatry doctor. Is after stopping the medicine will it cause some side effects or symptoms. The medicine are sulpitac 200 and prodine 5 mg. please reply my query. The doctor is not answering my call and appointment will be the next month 20th.

Dear lybrate-user,
it is nice of you to worry about your father. You can stop sulpitac and prodine, if you wish. It may not cause any withdrawal symptoms. But the original symptoms for which you consulted the doctor may come back. Either prepare to face them and restart the tablets or coax him to continue the tablet till next appointment. It is common or people to refuse to take psychiatric tablets.

Yes, stress causes tension and it triggers headaches and migraine and even make them too severe. Children and adults both are prone to migraine related to stress. Apart from the stress, anxiety too triggers migraines. Anxiety does not allow you to sleep well which in turn causes headaches and migraine.

I got married recently around 7 months ago. Later I found that my wife was taking psychiatric medicines (benzex 2 mg and sulpitac 100 mg each) every day. When I asked she told that this was give due to high stress 4-5 years ago and she was constantly taking those drugs. She works at a local bank. She always finds herself tired and sleepy (may be due to side effects of these medicines). She was never involved to be in family responsibility as her parents took care of her by pampering her a lot. And I think now she finds herself in huge burden of this responsibility too (we two are only in the family at home. Talking about her condition, I many times find unusual. She lacks concentration, forget things quickly, fear in almost everything like fear for future, fear of getting behind than others, fear of death or some ghosts, fear of breaking matrimonial relationship, etc. When I ask something, many times I need to ask 3-4 times as she is lost somewhere in her thoughts. She doesn't like being social with relatives or in crowd places, does not talk much or ben in lengthy conversations. Recently we had a baby miscarriage of around 45 days and she got stressed on that time as well. I asked her to leave medications for healthy pregnancy and finally she left those medications by the pressure of all family members. I do not know what to do. I want her to have a normal life, medications without adverse side effects and have a healthy pregnancy too as it can divert all her attention so that she cannot use her brain in thinking rubbish things.

Basically psychiatric drugs curb our daily activities. To involve in normal life she should skip to ayurveda or psychotherapy. Hypnotism is good for her. If you r interested you may contact to get free therapy.
