Hello, I have one important query here and I would really much appreciate if anyone can give me a meaningful suggestion. My Mom is suffering from Diabetes since 26 years and currently she is on insulin. Her Diabetic level used to be high sometimes but now a days the level is decreasing. She does take timely medicines and goes for a regular checkup once in a month but recently the doc advised to take some tests which included some Kidney tests, ECG, Eco cardiology etc. The doc said that her creatinine level is high which needs some Av Fistula to be done. I was little surprised after doing a little research what Fistula is. It seems it's a preparation for Kidney dialysis. She is in Kashmir presently and I really don't think that the medical facility is good there and the doctors too. I was planning to get her here to Delhi for check up and to figure out what needs to be done in order to balance creatinine level. I would request you if you give me a little bit of explanation about the procedure and also suggest me which hospital will be good to visit for the same. I don't want to take any chance. Will appreciate your help. Thanks.

Mr. lybrate-user, Thanks for the query.
Your information is very general. There are no specific values mentioned to know exactly what is the situation. When diabetes goes on for over 20 plus years, that too if improperly controlled (with high blood glucose levels), then kidneys are affected, that leads to increased level of creatinne. You have not given either blood glucose levels (fasting & PP & HbA1c%), BP readings plus creatinine and urea. If doctor has recommended dialysis means matter i...more

I am feeling quite sensitive about my health from quite some time. This all happened due to anxiety disorder which I suffered from 6 months back and I am doing every possible thing to overcome it. I underwent various checkups ranging from Cardiology to anxiety. However each and every report was fine, and at end of diagnosis I was given etizola by my psychiatrist. After taking this medicine for almost two months regularly I found no pressure in my chest and sensitivity. Everything which gave me sleeplessness vanished off. But I left the medicine in midway and almost after a month the all things like chest pressure, chest pinching returned back. But I have once again started to take medicines and they are relieving me. But I am feeling a slight pain in my wrist and forearm of lEFT side. Please tell me do this all happen due to anxiety or I has to undergo any further checkups All ecgs, digital xray of chest, blood tests etc were good which I underwent 5 months .please tell me is it necessary to have these things done once again.

You seem to be suffering most likely from illness anxiety disorder, wherein their will be extreme sensitivity to minor symptoms and interpretation of these towards a serious illness. It has to be treated by anxiolytics as well as psychotherapy (counselling). Ask your psychiatrist for CBT (cognitive behavior therapy), or ask him to refer to a clinical psychologist for the same. All the best.
