What are the best home remedies for pimples?

Pimples are the result of the clogging of your pores, due to excessive production of an oily substance called sebum in the skin. Acne and pimples occur mostly on the face, but they also appear on the hands, chest, and back as well.

The risk for developing pimples usually increases for boys or girls during adolescence, due to a genetic predisposition towards it, because of excessive levels of stress and if you use harsh cosmetics or certain medications.

While it may not be possible to cure acne and pimples, there are a few home remedies that are very efficient in keeping this condition under control. Here are a few natural home remedies for pimples:

  1. Mint, yoghurt and oatmeal:

    One effective way to keep pimples at bay is a mixture of mint yoghurt and oatmeal. To make this remedy, finely chop around two spoons of mint leaves and add it to two spoons of yoghurt.

    Blend two spoons of oatmeal to a fine powder and add this to the mixture. Apply this mixture to your face and leave it on for about ten minutes. Then wash it off with water.

  2. Green or chamomile tea:

    Herbal tea has antioxidant and anti-microbial properties that soothe the inflammation of acne or pimples. For this remedy, take two teabags of either green tea or chamomile tea and soak it in a glass of hot water for ten minutes.

    After it has cooled down, take a piece of cotton and apply the tea to the affected area. You can also dab the tea bags after they have been soaked, over the pimples and rinse them off with water.

  3. innamon and honey face mask:

    Another great home remedy for pimples is a cleansing face mask, made from cinnamon and honey. Make a paste, by mixing together two tablespoons of honey and one teaspoon of cinnamon.

    Apply this paste on your face and leave it for ten minutes. Then wash it thoroughly with water and make sure you wipe away the stickiness completely.

  4. Aloe vera:

    Aloe vera helps fight skin infection and relieves skin burns. Just apply aloe juice to the acne.

  5. Multani mitti:

    Multani mitti possess antibacterial properties and help to get rid of pimples by killing the bacteria responsible for pimples.

  6. Turmeric mask:

    Turmeric has anti-bacterial and antiseptic properties which help to fight against acne infection and reduce it. Turmeric also contains antioxidant properties that help to remove free radicals in the skin and reduce the natural aging process.

  7. Papaya mask:

    Papaya contains Vitamin C which is an important nutrient for glowing faces. Papaya can also be used as a skin exfoliator as it helps to remove dead skin cells.

  8. Yoghurt:

    Yoghurt is one of the best home remedies for glowing skin as it contains lactic acid in it. Lactic acid present in the skin helps to reduce the fine line and wrinkles and gives a smooth texture. Add yogurt to your diet or you can also apply yogurt directly to your skin to reduce the tan and sunburn.

  9. Gram flour:

    Gram flour possesses anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties that help to treat the pimples and also has a soothing effect on skin.

Are there any side effects of remedies for pimples?

In general home remedies for pimples do not have many side effects. However, in certain cases, side effects may occur, if your skin is sensitive or if you are allergic to a certain ingredient. Although, the natural ingredients used for these remedies are quite safe, and do not cause any side effects.
