Home Remedies For Pimples: Procedure, Recovery, Risk & Complication

What is the remedy about?

Pimples are the result of the clogging of your pores, due to an excessive production of an oily substance called sebum in the skin. Acne and pimples occur mostly on the face, but they also appear on the hands, chest and back as well. The risk for developing pimples usually increases for boys or girls during adolescence, due to a genetic predisposition towards it, because of excessive levels of stress and if you use harsh cosmetics or certain medications.

While it may not be possible to cure acne and pimples, there are a few home remedies that are very efficient in keeping this condition under control. Here are a few home remedies for pimples:

  • Mint, yoghurt and oatmeal: One effective way to keep pimples at bay is a mixture of mint yoghurt and oatmeal. To make this remedy, finely chop around two spoons of mint leaves and add it to two spoons of yoghurt. Blend two spoons of oatmeal to a fine powder and add this to the mixture. Apply this mixture to your face and leave it on for about ten minutes. Then wash it off with water.
  • Green or chamomile tea: Herbal tea has antioxidant and anti-microbial properties that soothe the inflammation of acne or pimples. For this remedy, take two tea bags of either green tea or chamomile tea and soak it in a glass of hot water for ten minutes. After it has cooled down, take a piece of cotton and apply the tea to the affected area. You can also use dab the tea bags after they have been soaked, over the pimples and rinse it off with water.
  • Cinnamon and honey face mask: Another great home remedy for pimples is a cleansing face mask, made from cinnamon and honey. Make a paste, by mixing together two tablespoons of honey and one teaspoon of cinnamon. Apply this paste on your face and leave it for ten minutes. Then wash it thoroughly with water and make sure you wipe away the stickiness completely.

Are there any side effects?

In general home remedies for pimples do not have much side effects. However, in certain cases, side effects may occur, if your skin is sensitive or if you are allergic to a certain ingredient. Although, the natural ingredients used for these remedies are quite safe, and do not cause any side effects.

What are the post-remedy guidelines?

You should apply these home remedies only once or twice in a week. Acne or pimples result from lifestyle habits like smoking, drinking, and other unhealthy habits. Therefore, along with these remedies, the treatment of acne or pimples also involves certain lifestyle changes. These lifestyle changes include drinking lots of water, eating a healthy diet, avoiding oily or fatty food and exercising regularly. It is advisable to avoid using harsh chemicals and cosmetics.

How long does it take to recover?

These remedies are simple and natural. It might take around one to two weeks for these home remedies to take effect. The remedies help to clear away the pimples and unclog your pores; hence, your skin will also improve.

Are the results of the remedy permanent?

While these remedies can help you get rid of an outbreak of pimples, acne cannot be cured completely. Therefore, the results of the remedy might be permanent, since pimples are likely to recur. Although, certain lifestyle alterations and a healthy diet, can help you to keep pimples at bay.

Is there any training or experts required?

Pimples: Can You Get Rid of Them Overnight?

Pimples are known to be the bane of many teenager’s life. However, the unfortunate thing is that for many people, their misery does not cease with the growth of a person into adulthood.

However, there are quite a few things which can be done in order to improve the situation, to help you get rid of these unsightly blotches in just one night.

1. Lemon juice: Fresh lemon juice can be made good use of in order to fight pimples. This can be done by using a cotton swab dipped in the fresh lemon juice and dabbing the swab on the pimples which are the cause of so much anguish.

2. Cinnamon paste: There is also an alternative which can be considered and that is to mix the lemon juice with a teaspoon of cinnamon powder and put this combination on the face prior to sleeping at night. However, it is to be kept in mind that there is one caveat about this solution and that is that if a person has skin that is sensitive, it is unlikely that he or she will react well to this sort of treatment. So, it is better that he or she just sticks to the simpler way to treat pimples by using lemons.

3. Ice cubes: In order to reduce the irritation, which is unfortunately part and parcel of pimples, what can be done is to use ice wrapped in a clean and thin cloth to touch the pimples with. The great thing about this is that ice is so freely available and a lot of the discomfort caused by the pimples will be greatly reduced.

4. Toothpaste: Another thing which is available quite easily happens to be toothpaste. While this may not seem to be an automatic solution for pimples, it is quite effective. However, if a person makes the choice of using toothpaste as his or her metaphorical weapon to combat pimples, he or she would do very well to keep in mind the fact that simple white toothpaste is to be made use of.

By using any gel based toothpaste, not only will the desired impact not be seen, but there could be side effects as well. What is to be done, is quite simple, to say the least. A few minutes before going to sleeps, the person needs to apply a bit of white toothpaste on each pimple. After waking up, washing off the toothpaste with cool water is required. Over the course of a few weeks, the changes will show up.

So fret not! Simply try these remedies and you will soon be pimple free! If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a dermatologist.

6 Ways You Can Treat Open Pores Problem

The enlarged oil gland openings on your skin are called open pores. They are concentrated primarily on the T-zone (the forehead, nose and chin) and cheeks. Open Pores is a common problem for people who have oily  skin. There is no instant fix for open pores. Luckily, you can control them with enough patience and the right remedies.

Here are some remedies you can use to treat open pores:

  1. Ice: Ice shrinks enlarged pores by tightening the skin. You can also use it to minimize large pores before you apply makeup. Ice also boosts the skin’s heath and stimulates circulation. You can use it on its own (by wrapping a clean washcloth around it) or use an infusion of rose water, green tea, apple juice or cucumber juice.
  2. Apple cider vinegar: Apple cider vinegar can be used as a skin toner and natural astringent. It tightens skin, reduces enlarged pores and restores the skin’s natural chemical balance. It is also anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial in nature, which prevent acne breakouts. Dilute apple cider vinegar in water before applying it to your face with a cotton ball.
  3. Egg whites: Egg whites shrink large pores by toning and tightening the skin. Make a mask with egg whites and lemon juice to reduce pores and oil on your face.
  4. Sugar scrub: Sugar scrub is a great exfoliator that not only reduces large pores, but also removes extra impurities and oil. Simply mix lemon juice, sugar and olive oil together and gently massage it on your skin.
  5. Baking soda: Baking soda has exfoliating properties, and it effectively removes dirt, debris and oil from the skin. Due to its anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties, it can also be used to reduce pimples and acne. Apply a mixture of lukewarm water and baking soda to your face, gently massage it and then rinse with cold water.
  6. Fuller’s earth/Multani Mitti: Multani mitti is a miraculous natural remedy that has many useful properties. It reduces open pores, absorbs extra oil and exfoliates the skin. Additionally, it also reduces blemishes and scars and benefits skin that is damaged by sun. You can make a paste of multani mitti with water or rose water and apply it to your face. Keep it on your face for 15-20 minutes and then remove it with cold water.

Procedures for Removal of Pimple Scars

Acne Vulgaris, commonly known as acne is a type of chronic skin condition which occurs when the hair follicles of the skin become clogged with oil and dead skin cells. Characterized by blackheads, pimples, whiteheads and greasy skin, acne can also cause scarring. Typically, acne which cause pimples tend to develop on the back, chest, shoulders but mostly on the face and neck.

Causes and symptoms of pimple scars:

Although the actual cause of acne is uncertain, medical professionals have reason to believe that an increase in the level of androgen triggers pimples. On the other hand, scarring due to pimples are a result of the presence of inflamed lesions. Such inflamed lesions when gorged with surplus oil, bacteria and dead skin cells cause swelling and an eventual rupture in the follicle wall which leads to scarring. The extent of the scar has a direct relationship with the rupture. That is to say, the deeper the rupture, the bigger the scar.

In actuality, the formation of scars is involved in the normal healing process of the skin. The skin cells in order to mend the damage caused by the ruptured pimples, forms fresh collagen fibers which are fibrous proteins that impart flexibility and strength to the skin. The resultant repair which are very rarely smooth and unblemished are referred to as scars.

Treatment of pimple scars:

  1. Fractional Radiofrequency treatment is a highly effective method of reducing or removing pimple scars from skin. The radio frequency does not cause much damage to upper layers of skin, but effectively breaks down the scar tissue.
  2. Lasers are alternative and are little less painful. This treatment involves the use of skin resurfacing lasers.
  3. Fillers are another form of treatment which fill the indentations left remaining from dense pimple scars. Hardly any down time with this but are expensive in the long run.
  4. Scar reduction surgery is meant to minimize the scar so that it is more consistent with your surrounding skin tone and texture.

Chehre Ke Gadde

Chehre Ke Gadde

Chehre ke gadde (pores on face) are a very common skin problem that almost everyone faces at some point in their life. A notorious beauty detractor, they can also lead to other skin problems like acne and pimples. So, it is very important to know about the reasons (kaaran) that lead to these pores (gadde).

  1. Heavy exposure to sun: Dhoop me jyada nikalne se ya der tak rehne se skin me maujud collagen ko nuksan hota hai jis se skin ki elasticity (lachilapan) kamzor hoti hai aur gadde banne lagte hai. So, avoid long exposure and cover your skin when going out in sun. Apply adequate sunscreen of requisite SPF degree to avoid the damage. If it gets tanned or burnt, try yoghurt, aloe vera or cucumber juice to fix the damage. In case of extensive damage, consult a doctor.
  2. Aging: Umar badhne ke saath skin ka lachilapan kam hone lagta hai jis se gadde bante hai aur dikhne bhi lagte hai. So, take care of your skin and get regular cleansing and moisturizing to keep it nourished. You can try homemade masks or go for skin treatment in a salon twice a month or once a week, according to your age and skin condition.
  3. Genetics: Vanshanugat (hereditary) kaaran bhi gadde hone ne ki wajah hai kuyki kisi ki skin ki pores naturally bade hote hai. Sadly, it is beyond control, but to combat the menace, you must take extra care of your skin and follow all the dos and don'ts such as regular cleansing, avoiding oily food, drinking plenty of water, etc. to keep the pores in check.
  4. Oily skin: Jyada tailiya (oily) skin hone se skin glands se jo tel nikalta hai wo chehre pe hi jama ho jata hai, jis se gadde saaf dikhne lagte hai. So, if you have oily skin, clean it twice or thrice a day with a face wash. You can also use skin wipes to remove the excess oil.
  5. Not removing makeup properly: Makeup theek se naa hatane se gaddo (pores) me gandgi jama hone lagti hai aur wo dikhne lagte hai. Therefore, always remove the makeup properly with cleansing milk. Wash your face and apply a moisturizer before going to bed.
  6. Excessive use of cosmetics: Jyada makeup use karne se bhi skin damage ho jati hai jis se pores band (block) ho jate hai yaa bade dikhne lagte hai. So, it is advised to use good quality makeup and that too in moderation. It is important to let your skin breathe.

Acne scars cannot be treated with banana or homepathy. There are 3 options. Chemical peels can be done which can give decent results. Dermaroller can also help along with chemical peels. But the best treatment is fractional carbon dioxide laser. 5 to 6 settings can usually give 60 to 80% improvement. You can visit me a contact me for details and cost of treatment.

Causes and Treatments of Acne (Pimples)
Hi, Im Dr Jyotirmay Bharti, consultant dermatologist and cosmetologist. I am a director of skin radiance in Gurgaon and I am also a visiting consultant at Max Hospital, Saket and Paras Hospital, Gurgaon. Today I am going to talk about a very common topic, that is Acne. In general people call it pimples.

This is a common problem of adulthood and childhood. Mainly the adolescents suffer from this problem, but due to stress factor many a people are experiencing it after 30 years of age also. Why so? I will explain you later but this is a very common scenario and a very common problem people visit to me to seek some solution for acne.

At some period of time in your life everybody suffer from acne and they don t know how to manage it and they take over the counter medication, they seek some advice from family, from guardian, from internet which is not good because this is not a big problem. This is a very small thing and can be taken care of, if you seek a good person to take care of it like your dermatologist.

So, what is acne?

Basically, acne is the overproduction of serum and is an inflammation of sebaceous gland. Basically, there is a sebaceous gland which is attached to hair root where you get due to hormonal changes when you reach adolescence your hormone gets changed and it gets activated and so it leads to increase in sebum production that is oil production. So, increased secretion of oil over your face and body leads to blockage of the duct and the exit and that can lead to acne formation and that sometimes is attached with inflammation and inflammation is you can say some bacterial reaction, bacterial growth in that which leads to redness, pigmentation and scars over your face which is very depressing in adolescence.

People come to me seeking for advice for stress, pigmentation and scarring because if acne is not taken care of that can lead to so many pigmentation and scarring. Scarring is the bed, which you can see many people suffer from that. So, I would suggest go to your dermatologist, that treatment is very easy, don t go and seek any over the counter medication from any chemist because they generally recommend steroids which can further worsen your condition. Rather go to your dermatologist and there are so many medications and antibiotics as oral isotretinoin which reduces the inflammation real fast so you can prevent your scarring and pigmentation. Then there are so many chemical peeling and so many things which are available with us which we can introduce at a very good time saving your face and thus saving you from any kind of stress and depression. So visit your dermatologist and they will tell you how to clean your face. How simple procedures like applying a few creams and taking few oral medications can help you in your life.

So if you have any problem regarding your facial problem, your acne anytime you can connect me on So stay healthy, thank you so much, take care.
