Calcaneal spur is very common heel pain complain that I am observing in my daily practice. And do understand how stabbing pain is. Please follow some precautions and treatment plan to get rid of it. If possible please visit any nearby physio and start taking our physio modalities like ust, laser and faradism which has very good results in such pain. In the meantime please follow the precautions and care at home to decrease pain level.
1) give rest to your foot.

Can't be given if you r diabetic.
Calcaneal spur per se is not the cause of pain.
It is the swelling of sole membrane known as plantar fasicitis.
Self limiting process.

One of the causes of the calcaneal spur can be lack of vit D (due to menopausal age) and over pressure of heels (standing while cooking).
So get he Vit D checked and in the mean time get some silicon base heel cushions available in market (vissco, tynor, flamingo are the company names). Hi there you can go for surgery for the removal of heel bone spurs. But fortunately, this is done very rare than in exception cases. Most cases can be resolved by physiotherapy treatment. At home you can do these few things like icing, rest, foot stretches and supporting the foot with a silicone heel pad or insole for shoe.

Kindly show me digital x rays of ankle. Rule out diabetes & vit. D deficiency or any other metabolic disorder.
Sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Spring beds, folding beds or thick matress are harmful
use pillow under the leg.
Do hot fomantation.
Ibuprofen 200mg od & sos x 5days
bio d3 max 1tab od x10
do foot & ankle exercises.
It may have to be further investigated.
You will need other supportive medicines also.
