This medicine (proton pump inhibitor (ppi).) will not cure problem. It only works by reducing the amount of acid in the stomach. The day you do not take medicine normal acid production will be there n you will have symptoms.

What r other symptoms that you r experiencing?
By doing what like walking, exertion, eating or empty stomach- it increases or decreases in intensity. For how much time the pain remains?
Is there stiffness also?
How is your appetite?

Dear user, avoid oily and spicy foods, avoid alcohol and smoking, eat more fruits and vegetables. Avoid biscuits, buns etc on empty stomach. Drink plenty of water and avoid staying hungry for long periods of time. Dinner should be finished at least 1 hr before bed. Reduce spicy food and fried meats. Good luck. 1. Endoscopy is advised to cirrhotic patients to rule out eosophageal and gastric varices and evidence of portal hypertension.
2. Cirrhotic patients do tend to have hematemesis unless their variceal ligature is done.
