Breast Reduction Surgery - Know More About It!

Breasts are integral to womanhood. They define a woman’s beauty. Well grown, firmer breasts are what every woman dreams of. However, not many women are lucky enough to have the perfect shape and size of breasts. A common belief among people is that bigger the size of the breasts, the better they are. This is a big misconception. The ideal breast size is the one that is in proportion to the rest of the body. Bigger breasts do not look good on women with smaller structure and are also prone to sagging. Apart from a disproportionate figure, many women with larger breasts complain of backache, neck and shoulder pain due to the physical burden born by the upper body. Hence, the need for medical intervention. Such women can consider breast reduction as a permanent solution to their problem.

Breast reduction or reduction mammoplasty is a procedure that reduces the size of the breasts through surgical removal of tissues, fat and skin, thereby making it ideal as per the body structure. The procedure is performed under the guidance of a trained aesthetic plastic surgeon and takes about three to five hours.

Hospital admission is usually required and general anesthesia is given to the patient. Healing of wounds may take a few days. Breast reduction surgery also deals with issues of sagging breasts and helps them give an uplifted and firmer appearance. Another advantage of this surgery is that it can reduce the size of areola making the breasts appear younger and better.

Like any other surgery, reduction mammaplasty is not free of side effects. There are risks associated and one has to carefully weigh the risks and benefits before taking this decision. It can cause complications like excessive bleeding and adverse anesthesia reactions. Apart from this, some of the common side effects of this surgery are loss of sensation in the nipples and areola, inability to breastfeed and scarring. Sometimes, the procedure may need to be repeated in case there is a visible asymmetry in the size of both the breasts.

In general, women considering this option are overweight, have no plans to bear children in future and are suffering from heaviness and pain in the upper part of the body due to larger breasts. However, many women desire to improve their appearance. Cosmetic market delivers many new gels and creams for breast reduction, claiming them to be simpler and safer than surgery, but their effectiveness is doubtful. Women looking for a more permanent solution may consider a surgical procedure. However, following the surgeon’s instructions is important pre as well as post-surgery. If you are worried about the size of your breasts, do visit a plastic surgeon and discuss your options.

Breast Implants - Know Misconceptions About It!

The Breast implants, be it the saline or the silicone implants comes as a blessing for people who have struggled for ages with a small breast. From lifting your self-confidence to enhancing the overall appearance, the benefits of breast implants are immense. However, there are some myths associated with the breast implants that should be busted for people to understand the procedure better.

Myth: The breast implants produce the same results in all individuals.
Fact: This myth is as dead as a dodo. A lot of factors are taken into consideration (such as the breast size, the type of the implants used, the skin condition, to name a few) before surgical breast implantation. The breast implants can never produce identical results in two individuals. You are unique and so will be the implantation.

Myth: Breast implants performed by an experienced surgeon will never cause any side-effects or complications.
Fact: There is no denying the fact that an experienced surgeon with a higher success rate will ensure better results. However, one cannot guarantee that there will be no complications at all. Minor side-effects such as swelling, bruising, inflammation, skin irritation or pain are inevitable. Depending on the physical health of the person, complications such as bleeding or infection may also be witnessed in some patients. Going under the skin and expecting no side-effects at all is only fooling yourself.

Myth: Silicone implants are highly dangerous and can trigger extreme health complications and discomfort.
Fact: There was a time when the silicone implants were indeed a little less safe when compared to the saline implants. However, with the advancement of science and technology, this fact no longer holds true. The silicone implants presently used are safe and durable (seldom there is a rupture or a severe tissue scar). There has also been extensive research that proves that the superior quality silicone implants used do not trigger diseases or health complications including cancer (though exceptions will be there).

Myth: Breast Implants does not interfere with breastfeeding.
Fact: Some lactating women having undergone breast implantation may experience discomfort and difficulty while breastfeeding the baby (especially when the breast implantation surgery is performed through the areola). In fact, lactating and nursing mothers are often advised to wait for a few years (or till the baby is into breastfeeding) before opting for the surgery.

Myth: The breast implants, be it silicone or saline, should be replaced in every ten years time.
Fact: Many people still give in to this myth. The condition of the implants alone can decide when it needs to be replaced. Thus, while some women may need a replacement in about eight years, others may continue with the same implant sans any complications for way more than ten years.

Myth: The breast implantation produces visible results immediately.
Fact: A breast augmentation cannot work miracles. On average, it takes at least eight-twelve weeks (may vary among individuals) for the results visible.

Post Delivery Non Surgical Mommy's Makeover!

Mommy Makeover

Pregnancy can take a toll on your body. If you had a nice figure, you might find yourself having a flabby tummy after your child is born. Even if you lose the pregnancy weight, certain areas of your body may still have excess fat.

Mommy makeover is a process that rids you of those worries. The process is aimed at reshaping the body and reducing the excess fat that has accumulated post-pregnancy. This process has gained popularity among women in recent years.

However, the traditional methods of a mommy makeover are time-consuming and include many processes like liposuction, tummy tucking, breast augmentation, and labiaplasty. That is why moms today are opting for nonsurgical mommy makeover methods.

Nonsurgical mommy makeover

A nonsurgical makeover is vastly different from the traditional methods as there are no surgeries. The treatments involved in the process may vary from one woman to another. The common makeover treatments include the following –

• Cool sculpting – This process aims to remove the excess fat from the body, especially the abdomen region. It takes around an hour to treat a particular area of the body. Here two sculpting paddles are placed on the area and gently pulled upwards using light suction. The fat cells are frozen and then destroyed.

• Thermage – This is a laser-based treatment that helps to tighten the undesired loose, sagging skin. This process boosts the production of collagen in the body that tightens your skin.

Fraxel – This process is used to minimize the stretch marks on the abdomen. A non-ablative laser called Fraxel is used for the process.

• Hair removal – Many women find hair growth in unusual areas of their body that did not occur before pregnancy. As taking care of their little ones takes time, they might not have enough time to wax and shave. Laser hair removal can permanently remove unwanted hair from the body.

• Spider vein removal – During pregnancy, many women develop spider veins or varicose veins. Spider vein removal therapy reduces the appearance of these spider veins. Depending on the type of veins and the location in the body, processes like Sclerotherapy are commonly used.

• Stretch marks removal – Stretch marks appear in the abdomen, breasts, thighs, arms and buttocks and slowly fade to grey or white. During the latter half of the pregnancy, these usually appear. They can be removed by many methods such as Tretinoin cream – it helps to build collagen and tone the marks to look like normal skin. Laser therapy is also used to develop more collagen or enhance melanin production, which helps in fading the marks over time. Other methods like Microdermabrasion and Micro needling are also used.

• Scar correction – C-section scars that are observed among women after pregnancy can be removed through a topical gel called Mederma. Curad Scar Therapy Cosmetic Pads are also
used to lighten the redness of the scars.

• Breast sagging correction – After pregnancy, your breasts might sag and lose volume. Enhancement techniques like augmentation or breast lifts will help in restoring size and
shape to the breasts making them look fuller.

• Localised fat correction – Excess fat can be removed using Carboxytherapy where carbon dioxide is injected into the fat area through a very small needle. As a result, the fat cells burst and the liquefied fat is removed naturally from the body. Carbon dioxide stimulates collagen production and increases blood flow.

• Radiofrequency – This is used to break down a part of fat cells and stimulate collagen formation. This helps in making the skin look smoother, reduces stretch marks and fat, and
helps with skin tightening.

Mesotherapy – This method is performed by injecting small quantities of vitamins, pharmaceuticals, and natural extracts in the skin. This is used for improving sagging skin,
rejuvenating the skin, and reducing fat or cellulite.

Things to keep in mind
Usually, the nonsurgical treatments do not require much recovery time and you can get back to your usual routine quickly. However, the Fraxel laser treatment takes about a week to recover. If you are seriously opting for this procedure, make sure you know all the details beforehand. Talk to your doctor and get to know all the steps you need to take before and after the makeover. It is advised that you go for this procedure after you have decided not to have kids anymore.

Breast Augmentation - What Should You Expect?

Breast Augmentation - What Should You Expect?

In today’s world, females have advance techniques available for shaping up their breasts. It is a part of their overall persona and beauty. Breast augmentation is one of the greatest plastic surgery operations that is done in hospitals across the globe.

Gone are the days, when you would sit back at home and blame nature for your saggy breasts. You have the gift of plastic surgery at your rescue. Breast augmentation can enhance the beauty of your breast and uplift its features. In this process, the implant is put under the pectoral muscle so that you can still breastfeed your infant if needed.

The process is executed with the help of a small 4 cm incision. The recovery process takes a week’s time. Breast augmentation can be carried out in a surgical centre or in any hospital’s outpatient facility. It doesn’t require a hospital stay in most cases. In some selected cases only, the procedure is done using local anaesthesia. In those cases, the patient stays awake. The breast region is made numb.

What to expect during the procedure?

The woman opting this must know what all are expected to happen during the procedure. The surgeon will insert the breast implant by making a single cut in one of the following three areas:

1. In the crease under the breast
2. Underarm (axillary)
3. Around the nipple (periareolar)

After the incision is done, the surgeon will try and separate the breast tissue from the patient’s muscles and connective tissue. This will lead to the creation of a pocket either behind or in front of the pectoral muscle. After this, the surgeon will put the implant into the newly-created pocket. It will be centred behind the nipple.

Saline implants are put in an empty form and then filled with sterile salt water. Silicone implants are, however, pre-filled with silicone gel. After the implant is over, the cut is stitched with sutures and the skin is bandaged with adhesive and tape. Breast augmentation is also carried out using body fat as it gives more natural feeling.

What to expect after the procedure?

For a few weeks, the patient might experience Soreness and swelling. It is also possible to develop bruises. Your scars will fade away with time. It is quite possible that the scars will not vanish permanently ever in your lifetime. You must wear a compression or sports bra at the time of healing. You might be required to take painkillers, as advised by the surgeon.

How To Increase Breast Size And Make Them Firm?

How To Increase Breast Size And Make Them Firm?

Loosening of breasts is natural with age. However, small and drooping breasts at a young age can affect your overall appearance and even lower your self-esteem. Some ill habits and lack of knowledge on how to increase breast size and maintain firmness often are the primary causes of sagging breasts.

Fortunately, increasing one’s breast size and getting a well-toned bust does not necessarily involve going under the knife. There are quite a few ways to reshape your breasts naturally -

Olive oil consists of antioxidants and fatty acids that can rectify the damage done by free radicals. Besides, olive oil massage improves your body and skin texture by making the breasts firm. All you need to do is take a few drops of the oil and gently rub it on and around the breasts. Make sure you are rubbing in an upward motion. Massage for 15 minutes until the area around your breasts generates heat. This increases the flow of blood and repairs the cells that are damaged. Follow the technique 4-5 times a week.

Cucumber has skin-toning properties, while egg yolks contain high levels of proteins and vitamins. Mixing these two ingredients, you can prepare a paste to apply on the breasts. Take an egg yolk, one cucumber and a tablespoon of cream. Make a paste using these, apply on your bust and massage gently. Leave it on for half an hour and then wash the area with cold water. Using the paste once a week will leave your breasts firmer and in an upright position.

The phytoestrogen present in fenugreek improves oestrogen levels, which further helps in cell division and promotes breast enlargement. Prepare a paste using fenugreek seed powder and massage the same on your breasts. After about 10 minutes, wash it off with cold water. You can also consume fenugreek seeds in the form of herbal supplements but only after discussing the same with your doctor.

  • Shea Butter and Rhassoul Clay -

A rich source of vitamin E, Shea butter helps tighten the skin around your breasts to give them a firmer look. Similar to olive oil massage, Shea butter massage also prevents cell damage due to the free radicals. Apply Shea butter on your breasts and massage in a circular motion for about 15 minutes. Leave it on for another 10 minutes before rinsing with cold water. Rhassoul clay contains iron, silica, sodium, potassium, and calcium – all the vital minerals that help keep your skin tight. Dissolve the clay into the water and prepare a sticky paste. Cover your breasts with the paste and let dry completely. Gently wash it off with cold water later.

Why turn to expensive lotions and undergo surgery when you can get wonderful, firm breasts naturally? Follow these tips and see your body change for the better. Say goodbye to sagging breasts.

Breast Augmentation Surgery - Know Vital Points Of Consideration!

Over the past decade, many women have opted for Breast Augmentation Surgery. It is a surgical process to improve the aesthetics of one's breast. Apart from giving a much-needed lift to the bust size, the augmented breasts can do your confidence a world of good. Breast Augmentation Surgery, if gone wrong, can create havoc. The outcome of the surgery can be influenced by a number of factors. Thus, before going under the knife, some important and vital points need to be taken care of.

- It is advisable to avail the services of an experienced surgeon, who has a higher success rate. A lot of confusions and apprehensions may arise during course of the surgery. An experienced surgeon will ease out the tension to a great extent and guide you better.

- Breast Augmentation is no child's play: Do not embark on breast augmentation surgery if you are below 18 years of age. It can result in serious health complications. Surgery can wait, but health once lost, will be gone forever.

- The type of implants to be used: Saline and Silicone implants are commonly used in breast augmentation. Both the implants come with their own sets of merits and demerits.

Being softer and smoother, Silicone implants give the augmented breasts a very natural feel. The chances of scalloping (the skin around the breasts appear wavy) are negligible in case of silicone implants. However, silicone implants come pre filled. Thus, a bigger incision is needed to get it inserted. Though approved by the FDA, leakage of the silicone implants into the body have been reported. The leakage can affect health seriously. Interference of the silicone implants with the mammogram can also pose a serious threat.
The Saline implants, on the other hand, are not pre filled. Thus, a small incision is all it takes to get the implants inserted. Once inserted, the implants are filled with saline solution. The saline implants can also leak into the body, without any serious implications. The biggest limitation of saline implants lies in the fact that it gives the breasts a very hard feel. Scalloping cannot be ruled out either.

- Do not go for breast augmentation surgery if you are planning to start a family in 1-2 years of time. A weaning or lactating lady should also avoid the surgery.

- The exact location of the implant is an important factor to ponder upon.  One can go for an under the muscle or over the muscle implants.

- One can opt for a round implant or a tear-shaped implant. The biggest USP of tear-shaped implant lies in the fact that it gives a very natural feel to the augmented breasts. The round implants, on the other hand, are much safer to use.

- Go for the surgery only when you are physically, mentally and emotionally fit and healthy.

Breast Augmentation Surgery is a very tedious process.

Breast Lift Surgery - Know Why To Consider It!

Size is not the only thing that matters when it comes to breasts; the shape matters as well. Just as the breast size can be enhanced or reduced by cosmetic surgery, surgeons can also give sagging breasts a more aesthetic shape. This form of surgery includes the removal of excess skin, reshaping the breast tissue and shifting the position of the nipple and areola.

There are many reasons a woman may consider breast lift surgery.

Some of these are:

1. Sagging breasts Some women have naturally sagging breasts. For these women, a breast lift surgery not only enhances their appearance but also makes bras and swimsuits fit more comfortably.

2. Pregnancy Stretching and sagging of breasts is one of the effects of pregnancy. Women may decide to consider breast lift surgery with or without implants to get back to the original shape of their breasts.

3. Weight loss Significant weight loss can also include a loss of breast tissue. Removal of excess skin is the most important part of breast lift surgery in such situations. Breast lift surgery, when performed correctly is associated with minimal risks.

Non-Surgical Breast Lift - Know More About It!

Pregnancy and the resultant hormonal whirlpool change a woman’s body in more ways than one. This is true especially when a woman starts to breastfeed her baby. Before pregnancy, a woman’s breasts are taut and firm. During pregnancy and breastfeeding, her breasts enlarge, are stretched out, and tend to sag. All this is very much the natural course of your breasts changing in tune to your bodily changes. However, if you feel that they are hanging lower than what can be expected after pregnancy, you can take the help of a cosmetic gynaecologist.

Non-surgical Breast Lift Techniques -

You don’t have to resort to surgery to get back firm breasts. There are several non-invasive ways of going about it-

Carboxy Therapy -

This therapy consists of injections of carbon dioxide. Carbon dioxide is administered through a fine needle just beneath the skin. It reaches the adjacent blood vessels and causes them to dilate.  Engorged blood vessels mean more robust circulation of blood. This makes the skin of the breasts more elastic because this therapy triggers the production of collagen.

Hyaluronic  Acid Treatment -

Another effective way to non-surgically gives your breasts a lift is through Hyaluronic acid therapy. In the gel form, this can be a substitute for breast implant surgery. Not only do they make breasts firmer but fuller also.

Hyaluronic acid provides hydration to the cells and tissues of the breasts and makes them supple. They remove wrinkles and stretch marks.

The Vampire Breast Lift (VBL) -

Another way to get firmer breasts without having to undergo the trauma of surgery is the very popular Vampire Breast Lift. There will be no incisions and sutures. The surgeon will simply inject Platelet Rich Plasma into your breasts. The proteins present in the PRP promote growth and repair of cells. The advantages of VBL are-

  • Gives you firmer and shapely  breasts

  • Makes the skin taut and smooth

  • Enhances blood circulation

  • Minimizes scars and wrinkles

The change in the shape of your breasts in the aftermath of pregnancy should not be a cause for insecurities and anxiety because you do not have to conform to society’s ideals of feminine beauty.  But, if you think your body image is driving you towards depression then you may consider opting for the above-mentioned non-surgical treatments of a breast lift.
