Marijuana itself has no significant effect on lungs but it is smoked with tobacco which has it's own repercussions. Otherwise, marijuana affects neurochemicals and affects thinking and perception and can lead to mood disturbance, anxiety, obsessions and even psychosis. There is treatment available for cannabis abuse.

If it is the lungs, there may be some concern. Even if it not concerned with the smoking, giving up is the best solution. Smoking has no benefits at all, period. So do not wait for some problem to crop up before you want to quit. It is not good and therefore quitting is the best solution.
