I am a 21 years old male, uncircumcised, who has had balanitis/balanoposthitis for years, I had phimosis as a young teen but I took care of it and it is no longer an issue, I've tried treating it with home methods (it has helped tone it down a bit and provide temporary relief but it keeps coming back) for years before going in for a doctors appointment, the doctor said it was balanoposthitis and gave me a prescription for a cream that was supposed to take care of any balanitis related problems. I used it for 10 days, and while it helped a bit, after 10 days the problem still remained, I went in for a std/overall urinary test as well as a swab test, everything came back negative, the bacterial levels were normal, fungal levels were normal, the only thing that was different is that there was higher than normal blood levels detected in the urine which the doctor ignored for some reason. He basically told me that there is nothing wrong with me and I should relax, but I have all the symptoms of balanoposthitis and I have no idea what to do now, thanks.

Hello-
Balanoposthitis is often confused with two similar conditions: phimosis and balanitis. Phimosis is a condition that makes it difficult to retract the foreskin. Balanitis is inflammation of the head of the penis. Balanoposthitis is inflammation of both the penis head and the foreskin. Its best to rediagnose it. You can start ayurveda treatment this time for recovery.

Phimosis is defined as tight foreskin that cannot be retracted to expose the glans penis. It is normal or physiological in young children but in elders it is pathological, caused due to infection, inflammation that leads to scarring and diabetes mellitus. To prevent it one should clean the smegma on glans penis by retracting the foreskin and cleaning the glans with a non irritant soap and then wash it with water. Never forget to retract the foreskin back to glans.

Hello-
balanitis is an inflammation of the glans penis (head of the penis); it is fairly common and affects approximately 3-11% of males during their lifetime. Posthitis is an inflammation of the foreskin (prepuce). Balanoposthitis involves both the glans and the foreskin and occurs in approximately 6% of uncircumcised males.

Paraphimosis is a urologic emergency in which the retracted foreskin of an uncircumcised male cannot be returned to its normal anatomic position. It is important for clinicians to recognize this condition promptly, as it can result in gangrene and amputation of the glans penis.
