Keep your leg propped up on 1 or 2 pillows. Place the pillows under your foot or calf muscle. This helps keep swelling down. Do this 4 to 6 times a day for the first 2 or 3 days after surgery. Do not put the pillow behind your knee. Stiffness is a common problem after acl surgery, particularly extension (straightening the leg) but the chances of developing this are greatly reduced by starting exercises as soon as possible and strictly complying with the post-op rehab programme. Dear Akash,

Gread 1 ACL is A slight tear and joint function resumes fairly quickly. Some physical therapy, rest, icing and treatments may be required for healing.
Also gread 1 meniscus tear can also be treated with same as outer edge of meniscus is having blood supply and tends to heal

So my opinion is continue physical therapy along with rest to your knee ( use knee brace ).
Avoid cross leg sitting, stairs climbing and sitting on Indian toilet if you have.

Hi Lybrate User, It's always preferable to take treatment under a qualified physiotherapist for acl conservative treatment and also under a orthopaedic surgeon.
Not all acl injury needs same exercise, it varies, depending upon various parameters.
Please avoid self treatment.
Good luck.

It is a tear of the anterior cruciate ligament. Grade-3 acl tear means compleat tear of acl in acute stage.
If pain is more and swelling around knee joint go for the orthoscopic surgery (reconstructive ligament)
now you need to do strengthening exercises for knee joint, gentle knee bending exercise, apply ice pack twice a day, static cycling more helpful.

It costs around 1 to 1.5 lac, room charges around 15 to 20 thousands in average. Respiratory complications arise if you don't maintain sterile precautions.

Knee ligament laxity if you have problem in your legs then it might be due to ligament laxity where your legs would become very weak due to the old ligament injury and that should be treated immediately. Wear knee cap so that you will feel firm while walking or climbing stairs.
This is a general strain and for this you can follow these measures: one keep a pillow right under the knee while sleeping, next is you can keep ice in the painful area for about 5--10 minutes, if pain still persists ...more
