Mr. lybrate-user, A person with long standing diabetes should be vary carefull about injuries to feet and toes. Because of neuropathy and improper blood supply the wounds do not heal. So please see that blood glucose is well under control with fasting closer to 100 mg, PP 160 to 170 mg & HbA1c% <7 As regards the present wound it is necessary to consult a diabetic foot specialist immediately. Thanks.

Hello Mr. lybrate-user,
Dark discoloration and thickening of skin are signs of insulin resistance and it is known as acanthosis nigricans. This can be reversed by following healthy lifestyle.
You should do regular physical activities and also try to follow balanced meal. Try to avoid more of simple carbs such as sugar, cold drinks, sweets and refined wheat products as these can ellevate sugar spikes and will further lead to more insulin resistance.
