Hello,
as we all know that smoking is the leading cause of lung cancer. There are several researches done and papers published on this. Although it is difficult to calculate the risk associate with it. It totally depends on person’s overall health and it’s response to the inhalation of toxic smoke. So it won’t be appropriate to say that you will be safe after smoking 1 cigarette or 2 for how long. It is advisable to quit smoking as early as possible and lead a healthy life.

Smoking is a die-hard habit and many people eventually die of the same. It remains one of the most common causes of cancer and lung diseases which eventually lead to death. The irony is that almost all smokers know the harmful effects but find it hard to quit. With a firm determination, there are people who quit but then the relapse rate is quiet high too.

You can judge for yourself with the following data: Summary: (Source: Center for Disease Control and Prevention)
• Cigarette smoking causes more than 480,000 deaths each year in the United States. This is nearly one in five deaths.
• More than 10 times as many U.S. citizens have died prematur...more

Dear lybrate-user, smoking is injurious to health. Even when you take one cigarette per day, it is capable of cancer. Quitting is not that easy. Though deaddiction therapy is useful, I would suggest you to just quit it in one go on a fine day. You need to sustain it with the help of will power. Motivation therapy and mind power therapy should help you. Please consult a psychologist
