Yes composition of plueral effesion can be suggestive of tb, X ray is also very sensitive to rule out tuberculosis. Yes drugs are good enuogh follow the advise of your pulmonologist 300-500 ml fluid is mild collection of fluid it will absorb automatically in few months. Sputum culture ansd sensitivity ,sputum for afb ,TB gold should be done My suggestion is make a pdf file of all your invesstigation take pictures of all xrays, medicines you are on and get a full review ,we can not treat a serious problem just by making assumptions. IF you can not then follow advise of your respiratory medicine doctor take the full couse of medicine, TB will take months to settle down.

Dear Mr. lybrate-user whenever you have a cut on the skin or anywhere else, when it heals it leaves a scar. This scar night itch sometimes but it does not mean that the cut has not healed. Similarly the pleural blunting seen is a scar of the tuberculosis that you had before. It does not mean that you have MDR TB. It might cause some irritation and pain from time to time. But relax it is quite normal. And this scar is going to remain so do not continue getting X-ray's done. Regards.

Thank you for the query. Plerura or pleural space, is a sac like covering around our lung. It is a potential space and air, fluid and blood can collect in it. Pleural effusion implies that there is collection of fluid in the pleural space. When there is a collection in this space, the normal function of the lung (gaseous exchange) may be hampered. It would have been helpful if you would have mentioned your father's age, and whether he is suffering from any comorbidities, also whether he has any addictions (like smoking). The commonest cause of pleural effusion is infection (usually bacterial). Other causes may be tuberculosis, mitosis or conditions like rheumatoid arthritis. Liver disease, kidney problems and cardiac failure also causes pleural effusion, but they mostly bilateral (both sided). It is advisable that you visit a physician or chest specialist. A chest x-ray will be needed. Some blood tests like complete haemogram will be needed, and analysis of the pleural fluid may be done. Regards.
