Regards Lybrate user. Trauma can affect various tissues in the body. X-rays predominantly show concerns with bone. Soft tissues (that means tissues other than bone that are soft to touch) are not viewed well with x-rays. When fall occurs, it may injure muscles, ligaments, joint covering capsule and so on. Tendons that connect the muscle with the bones travel under tunnels at ankle that are covered by small ligaments. If such ligaments get injured, the tendons may snap out of place causing sounds and pain. Usually the ligaments heal by themselves, provided it is protected from extreme movements. It is recommended to consult an orthopaedician or orthopaedic physiotherapist to ascertain a treatment plan.

Since you have pain you can take rest for your joint to totally heal and you will definitely feel better after taking rest. You can do ice therapy to heal the joints totally and knee cap will help you to maintain the tone and the stability of the joint. Since your age is less you can check with your anaemic levels which also might be the reason for you to have pain the legs. Anaemia always leads to the symptoms of being tired and also having leg pain though there are no issues with the leg pain.

Shin splints are Self limiting (I.e. They can heal on their own). To control the pain, you can try ice application 3 to 4 times a day, 15 to 20 minutes each time. If you’re using ice cubes are frozen ice, please cover it with a towel and a place on the area where you have pain. Please wear comfortable shoes while walking particularly if you’re walking regularly on hard surfaces like concrete. Avoid activities such as running or jumping until the pain improves. If the pain doesn’t improve at all after 2 weeks then consider seeing a physician for prescription of appropriate pain killers and at that point it may not be a bad idea to get an x-ray to rule out any fracture.
