My wife is 25th week pregnant. Doctor prescribed isoxsuprine hydrochloride 20 mg daily 2 times. Can you please guide the purpose of using these tablets and if any side effects. Her blood report shows pcv of 33% and scan shows low laying placenta of 2 cm from os. Remaining all reports are normal.

it seems that your wife may have complained of pain in abdomen and tablets were given to relieve that pain. the tablets do not have any significant side effects so you need not worry the placental location is of some concern - it will be safe to rest on bed with leg side raised, avoid exertion and sex up till delivery. repeat USG after 1 month to see if placenta migrates a little higher, in which case some of the above mentioned restrictions can be relaxed.
